Adopt A Troop Project
Mrs. Baumes, our school nurse at Concord Elementary has helped to organize our " Adopt a Troop" initiative for the past 10 years. Each year we adopt a troop and show our appreciation for their service to our country by sending them boxes of treats, cards and personal notes to let the members of our troop know how special they are to us! Our families, staff and students all donate things and we send everything we receive. It is always fun for us to see what arrives in the Nurses' Office. These items are boxed up and sent out to our Troop with the generous support of HSA for the postage. Last school year a group of sailors from the USS Bataan were our adopted ship. We wanted to share a thank you note we received from one of our shipmates this summer.
Hello there,
My name is Shaulana. I am on the USS Bataan. I received and shared one of the boxes your school sent to the ship with my fellow shipmates and I just wanted to say thank you. Please tell everyone that participated in making these boxes they are appreciated by many. I'm not sure if anyone else has sent you a thank you. But I want to let you know yall did a great job. Thank you for all your support.
Respectfully,
Shaulana Williams OS2 USN, LHD-5

Garnet Valley CTC Quick Tip #2 2017-2018
Did you know? One of the most powerful things that you can do to reduce the present or future risk of your child smoking, using drugs or alcohol, feeling depressed or stressed is to – eat together without screens (phones, computers, tablets, TV)! This meal can be breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack.
Call to action… You will have lots to talk about during your meals after the first weeks of school – ask specific questions such as: who was the first person you saw when you walked into school on the first day, what was the best thing one of your teachers said to the class, did anything surprise you this year, did you notice anything new or different in the building, etc., or just get everyone in the act of making the meal and conversation will happen.
Make it fun and easy and make memories! Click on the website below to learn more.
