Hughes Family Weekly Newsletter
#HughesProud
Principal's Message
Thank you to all who attended Open House this week! We are so appreciative to have that time to connect with our families and showcase student work. April 4th is the end of Quarter 3 and serves as a progress report for how well students are doing toward their semester grades. Thank you for always checking your child's grades on Canvas and supporting them with turning in assignments and studying for assessments.
As a reminder, daily attendance, including showing up to class on time supports the academic success of our students. Parents, you have the ability to see your child's daily attendance through ParentVUE and we encourage each of you to monitor your child's attendance as part of their academic support.
Here are the highlights of this week's newsletter:
- Open House
- PTA Fundraiser- Chipotle (April 5)
- 8th Grade End of Year Activities

Students Leaving Early (Early Outs)
When you know you are picking up your student early, please avoid the student lunch time and PE class. We are unable to call for students once they are dismissed to lunch and cannot allow adults to walk on campus. During PE classes, there is not always an available adult to let the students in to the locker room to obtain their belongings. Additionally, you are welcome to notify the office about the early out ahead of time and we can let the PE teacher and student know to keep their items with them during that time. Thank you for your help and understanding.

Hughes Guidelines for Success
Hughes - A Green Ribbon School
Reusable Water Bottles: We encourage all students to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and reduce our plastic waste.
Clean and Green: As a Green School, our students should not litter on or around campus. Please make sure that all items are thrown away and that we also pick up trash that we see when walking or sitting by it. When we ignore trash on the ground, we are saying that we are OK with trash on the ground, and that's not the Hughes way!
Walk, Bike, Carpool: To minimize the amount of CO2 we add to our environment as well as noise pollution from traffic, we encourage all our students to walk, bike, or carpool to school, when possible.
Join the Hughes PTA! Our goal is for our entire school community to be members!
