Note about Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day in middle school can be a very challenging day for many students as they learn to navigate relationships.
Your help is very much appreciated.
THE WALSH HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM PROJECT SHOWCASE
The 8th grade students are finishing a unit of study on the Holocaust. They have learned about factors that contributed to the Holocaust, read the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, explored primary sources, and written a Holocaust research essay. Students are now in the final stage of the unit, which requires them to collaborate in a group and design a Holocaust memorial reflective of their learning. These projects will be showcased in a museum-style event here at school.
FAMILIES ARE INVITED!
The 8th grade students and ELA teachers would like to invite you to come to the Walsh library on Wednesday, February 15th to visit the Walsh 8th grade Holocaust Memorial Museum. Like other museums, you will have the opportunity to view student exhibits related to their research and ask the students questions.
During the event, the students will be present in the library to discuss their memorial designs at the time of their individual ELA class period. The schedule is as follows:
Day 3
C Block: 8:15-9:01
F Block: 9:49-10:35
D Block (split): 10:35-11:05, 11:35-12:05
G Block: 12:05-12:51
We hope to see you at the event! In the meantime, please check in with your child about their progress on the research paper which proceeded the project work. At this point, final due dates have passed and class time will no longer be spent on researching or drafting. If your child has yet to finish their research paper, please reach out to your child's ELA teacher to make a plan or if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!
