Parent Teacher Conferences
Dear Parents,
As you are all aware, the COVID-19 virus continues its unrelenting presence in our community. As always, our district remains committed to doing what we can to ensure the safety of our students and staff, while keeping our schools open and available for learning. With these goals in mind, and after careful consideration, the decision has been made to host our October parent-teacher conferences virtually. At this time, we believe that this is the best decision to help us ensure that our schools remain staffed and open. Your child’s teacher will send out more information soon. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school. Thank you, as always, for your continued cooperation and support.

Lincoln's Health and Safety Plan
The ND DOH recently updated their Covid-19 Childcare & School Attendance Guidance. This document is an excellent resource for identifying signs of infectious illness. You are the expert when it comes to your child, and we appreciate your assistance in working with us to keep our schools safe and open.
Read-A-Thon Fundraiser

Surround the State in Song
We are celebrating in song with nearly 500 students across the state of North Dakota on Saturday, October 16th . The Dickinson Middle School will host 11 of these schools from SW North Dakota with students representing grades 5-7 at our own concert on Saturday, October 16th at 3:30 pm. There will be a $5/person door charge. This concert is sponsored and supported by the ND American Choral Directors Association. This organization promotes excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publications, and teaching. This year, our students will debut a brand-new commissioned work by composer Timothy Takach. We have 8 students participating in this concert from Lincoln Elementary. They will rehearse for one day together under the direction of a guest conductor, Mrs. Lacy Hanson, Center-Stanton school district and pianist, Jacob Kirsch, Dickinson High School Senior. Please come and support our young singers as they present their concert

Quality of Sleep
"Quality of sleep" is a determining factor in how well a child can learn and engage with others? Especially for students who struggle with inattention or excessive activity, getting enough sleep could be truly life-changing.
This handy chart may help!
Halloween Costume Guidelines
1. Try to stay with literary characters as much as possible.
2. No fake blood or fake weapons.
3. No glitter or other material that falls off easily and gets into the carpet.
4. MASKS: Students' faces must be visible while at school. Halloween masks can be brought for classroom activities if allowed by the teacher; however, they are not allowed during other parts of the school day.
National Fire Prevention Week
Tuesday, October 5th the Dickinson Fire Department will be having a special presentation for K, 1st, and 2nd Grade.
National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month
National School Lunch Week
National Red Ribbon Week
DID YOU KNOW? Kids of parents who talk to them regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t; yet, only a quarter of students report having these
conversations. Red Ribbon Week (October 23-31), the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the nation, is your opportunity to get the ongoing conversation started. The theme this year is Drug Free Looks Like Me. Visit redribbon.org to learn more about Red RibbonWeek and get tips for talking to your kids about drugs. The life you save may be that of your own child or a dear friend.
At school, students will engage in activities that promote a drug free and healthy lifestyle!
Apple Crunch Off
What is the MPRO Crunch Off?
In celebration of Farm to School Month this October, States throughout the Mountain Plains Region are competing to see which State can get the most “crunches” into a local apple, or other local produce. Lincoln Elementary will be participating October 13th!
Parent Communication
Communication between home and school bears great importance so we ask that you please join us on the Seesaw Family App and keep watch for emails.
Messages are available on both mobile and desktop.
SEESAW allows students and teachers to communicate with parents in real-time and allows parents the flexibility to see what is going on in the classroom on their time.
We look forward to staying connected and nurturing our relationships throughout the year.
DPS Pantry
Dickinson Backpack Program
The Dickinson Backpack Program is a food program that provides school-age children with easy to prepare food on weekends and during school breaks. This program is meant to assist families who may be struggling financially with providing their children enough food.
If you believe your child could benefit from this program, please stop by the school office for a permission form for your child to receive this donation.
Safety Drills
Keeping our schools safe is our #1 priority. We will be working with students to practice fire drills, tornado drills, and safety lock-down drills. We do this as a measure of practicing safe routines in the event of an emergency.
Sometimes these drills can be unsettling for students so please reassure your child(ren)that practicing is important.
LLPT (Lincoln Lion Parent Team)
Our next LLPT meeting will be on October 14, via Zoom at 6 pm. Please call the office if you are interested in joining. All parents are welcome. Hope to see you there!!
