Credit Recovery (Summer School)
Due to the unprecedented circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and the associated challenges, the West Perry School District recognizes that some students were unable to raise failing grades to a level required for earning course credit. Therefore, the District is offering students the ability to participate in credit recovery during the summer and is providing financial support for students participating in our 2020-2021 Credit Recovery (Summer School) program. Credit recovery is the primary strategy for keeping students on-track to graduate. Data indicates that students who do not stay on-track are more likely to drop out of high school.
Cost: Online credit recovery courses cost $130.00 each.
· The District will pay the full cost of the course(s), for students earning a 70% or above.
· This District will pay for half of the course ($65.00), for students earning a 60-69%. Families will be responsible for the remaining cost ($65.00).
· Students and/or families are responsible for covering the full cost ($130.00) if a student fails the credit recovery course.
· An invoice will be sent to families at the conclusion of the course.
The West Perry School District will offer credit recovery courses in an online learning environment with in-person support at the high school building. Transportation will be provided.
Program Start Date: June 15, 2021 Program End Date: July 15, 2021
All classes must be completed by July 15, 2021. Any outstanding assignments will be entered as zeros after the program end date. If a student has an extenuating circumstance that is impeding his/her ability to complete all work by the deadline, this must be communicated to the school immediately.

Technology Requirements: Credit Recovery courses offered online require Internet access. Students can complete all coursework using their school issued Chromebooks. The Intermediate Unit will provide basic technical support connected with the online program. Course work completed at home requires students and families to obtain necessary internet access at their own expense. However, students are encouraged to complete credit recovery course work in person with support at the High School location.
Please reach out to your counselor to obtain a registration form that will need to be returned to the high school by May 21, 2021.

Work Permits
Need to know information... applying for a work permit.
All students age 17 & younger seeking employment are required by PA law to apply for a work permit. Students are not permitted to work prior to obtaining the official work permit.
Over the summer months, you may stop in the high school main office Monday - Thursday between 8am-3pm. Please be aware the office is closed on Fridays.
A parent/guardian must sign the application. Proof of age (e.g., birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport or driver’s license) must be presented before the official work permit can be issued.
Student returns the application to the school (student must be present to sign the work permit). If all information is completed properly and proof of age has been provided, a work permit will be issued. The student may then begin working immediately.
Transferrable Work Permit (Blue card) is issued to all students once the application is completed. This card remains in the possession of the student and is shown to new employers should the student change jobs. The current employer will need to see the blue card and is required to make a copy for their files. It is the student’s responsibility to keep this card until they turn 18 years of age.
