the surrender

on April 9 Robert E. Lee had realized that the beleaguered had halted so Robert E. Lee held a surrender meeting. the location pf the meeting was up to Robert E. Lee's Lt. and his name was Lt. colonel Orville E. Babcock. Robert E. Lee had mentioned that his men were without rations for several days and the union commander had arranged 25,000 rations to be sent the confederates. On April 10th a meeting of six officers, three confederate, and union would convene in the McLean parlor. During the war it was so simple how it ended and Robert Lee had realized that the war was crazy,so he told his men to turn back and go to their families or resume their lives as american citizens.
