Field Trip
Our drive to Lincoln illustrated the severity of the Wednesday night storms. Flood waters were visible all along our route. The storm also made an impact on our visit at Fire Station 1 on "Q" Street. The informative tour was interrupted several times by rescue calls. This was extremely interesting to observe the quick action taken by the station crew. Students were able to see the entire fire station and trucks. They even got to walk through a truck. The fire fighters gave an impressive tour!

Students listened intently to the various jobs fire fighters perform (including water rescues).
A rescue call...
Students quickly learned to routine of where to go when the fire fighters were called to duty. We watched as they left the station.
Future fire fighters...
Many students took interest in the jobs of fire fighters. Station 1 encouraged students to consider fire fighting when they grow up.
Children's Museum
Due to the unknown status of weather, a decision was made to go to the Children's Museum rather than the Children's Zoo. The students were excited with all the many centers. Students were able to explore and investigate many topics. Some of the popular centers for second grade included the prairie dog tunnels, the news station and the sports area. Of course, the water station was extremely fun, too.
