Keep making a difference
You and your work matter!
Having two weeks off and the start of a new year gives me time to reflect and I hope you too have done this as well.
First of all, what you do matters! You are not wasting your time nor is your labor in vain. Believe it or not, there are students in your class whom you are influencing more than you know. In fact, they are probably the student you are having the most trouble with as well.
Secondly, remember that growth takes time. You are planting seeds and you might not see the fruit of your labor this year...however, do not despair!
Lastly, there are students in your class who are grateful, and learning AND growing...even if they never tell you.
I see your efforts, your long hours, your phone calls, etc...they are not in vain. So be encouraged and keep making a difference.
I leave you with this quote to think upon as you begin 2019! Let's make it the best one yet.
"Education...is painful, continual and difficult work to be done in kindness, by watching,
by warning,....by praise, but above all --by example." John Ruskin
You can't make this stuff up!
As she was monitoring the room while the students were taking the test she noticed one child in particular who was just writing down letters and none of them made sense. When she asked the child about it, he said that he wrote the words in Japanese. Being the smart teacher, she asked him to say one of the words for her in Japanese. His reply: I only write Japanese. I don't not know how to speak it.
