- James Chadwick was born in England on October 20th, 1891. James Chadwick discovered the neutron in 1932 and was awarded the Nobel Prize for physics, a few years later, in 1935. James predicted that there was indeed a neutron, that is what inspired him to work harder and not give up on his theory. He Also established that the atomic number was determined by the number of protons.
