Welcome to Cedar Park Parent Teacher Club (PTC)

All current parents and guardians of CPMS students are automatically members of the PTC.

Our events, programs, school support, and enthusiasm make up this vibrant volunteer community and are indeed, POWERED BY YOU.

Read on for more info regarding upcoming events, volunteering, the 5K, and our 2019-20 calendar.

TWO TO TAKEAWAY:

2. The Cedar Park 5K is scheduled for Thursday, 10/3.

New Family Reception this Thursday, 8/29

All new CPMS families are invited to a New Family Reception, Thursday, 8/29, between 5-6:30pm. This informal, drop-in event is a perfect opportunity for incoming Cedar Park families to wander through the halls, find all their classrooms (and bathrooms!) and generally ease any new school jitters.

A sweet treat will be provided, courtesy of the Cedar Park Parent Teacher Club (PTC). Don't miss this chance to better acquaint your child to Cedar Park before their first day of school.

VOLUNTEERING

Yes, we still need you! Believe us, now is NOT the time to step away from your child's school community.

Volunteers are essential for the continued success of Cedar Park. Varied opportunities are available from staff appreciation, event support, chaperoning, and more.

All volunteers must have a completed background check and active mVP profile.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO BEAVERTON SCHOOL DISTRICT:

Fill out a parent application. Follow the steps to create a username, password, and profile. The background check mandated by Beaverton School District is included in this application. More info on creating an online mVP profile can be found here.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO CEDAR PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL:

Email update_volunteer_locations@beaverton.k12.or.us in order to move your profile from your elementary school to Cedar Park Middle School. Parents are not automatically moved into the Cedar Park volunteer database.

Be on the lookout for volunteering info! Our Directors of Volunteers, Jennifer & Jenna, will send a monthly email with upcoming volunteering opportunities. Thoughtfully consider how you can contribute to keeping Cedar Park awesome.

PTC BOARD & BUDGET

President, Bettina Jeszenszky

Vice President, David Platt

Secretary, Hannah Donohue

Treasurer, Skye Kutansky

Directors of Volunteers, Jenna Dornblaser & Jennifer Rafanan

Here are some Board goals that you can expect:

  • Content-focused PTC meetings that are both relevant & informative to our community, including a high school options night, a Canas/Parentvue training, and an online safety presentation.

  • Continued budget transparency as the PTC utilitzes 5K funds to improve Cedar Park. Ongoing projects for 2019-20 include rebuilding the front sign, continued improvements to library furniture, additional whiteboard table purchases for math classrooms, and sound system upgrade in the cafeteria.

  • Organized and on-time communication of our events, volunteer needs, and PTC business. The Cedar Park PTC is also now using Google for Nonprofits G Suite to improve our historical handoff and organize ourselves internally.

2019-20 PTC Budget Boasts Exciting New Line Items

Your PTC Board is proud to announce several new additions to the 2019-20 budget. This upcoming school year will include:

  • Classroom Supplies ($2700) ($75 x 36 teachers): To be used at each classroom teacher's discretion to purchase needed classroom supplies

  • Student Fund for School Enrichment ($1000): To be used with Dr. A's student advisory council, this fund will provide student-led initiatives & improvements to CPMS.

  • Cedar Park Sign Rebuild ($5000): Provides a new sign to replace the previous rotted & damaged wooden one (removed last school year)

  • Sound System Upgrade ($1500): Funds to help boost the current cafeteria sound system

  • Phase Two Library Upgrade ($3500): Additional improvements to the library, most likely another couch/setting area set

  • Three Math Classroom Whitetables ($4500): The second phase in replacing the math classrooms tables, these new additions are a perfect fit for collaborative and inventive math work

These are in addition to the already-existing tradition of three grade level experiences for all CPMS students, as well as Art Literacy, PACK store, library/literacy support, and a $7500 School-wide Discretionary Fund (over seen by Dr. Anderson).
