Elkton Elementary School Memo
August 8, 2022
A Note from Mrs. Palmer
This is the format of the weekly newsletter from Elkton Elementary School. It will be delivered by email each Sunday at 4:00 PM. It contains information for the upcoming week and highlights from previous weeks.
School starts on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 for Grades K-5. Our Pre-K students start Friday, August 26, 2022. If your child is riding the bus, that information will come by email very soon. Families that dropped off and picked up their child last year, will not be put on a bus unless you completed the transportation form. You can make a change now, but do not expect it to be put into place for two weeks (not the first week of school).
Our Back To School Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 18th. Come anytime between 4:00-6:00 PM. Pre-K and Kindergarten families meet in your child's classroom for informational meeting at 5:00 followed by a school bus ride through the community. Back to School Night is an opportunity for your child to meet his/her teacher and to drop off school supplies. There will be a PTO table in the front foyer. You are encouraged to join the PTO. There are multiple ways for you to get involved. Hope to see everyone at EES.
I have included important information regarding student drop off and pick up informaition. It will be very similar to how we did it last year. PIck-up times could change depending upon the number of students being picked up by parents. We have changed our dismissal time to 2:55 PM.
EES Pick Up/Drop Off Procedures
You are encouraged to drop your child off following the above procedure (if car rider). If you are volunteering in the classroom (teacher has scheduled you to help), feel free to sign in at the office before going to your child's classroom.

The Parent/Student Handbook is found at the link below. It contains lots of information. I encourage you to read through it. Call the school before 8:45, if your child will be absent from school. (298-1511)

Meet Mrs. Chelsea Imbrescia, Admin. Intern (Assistant Principal)
Dear EES Families,
I am beyond excited to be working alongside Mrs. Palmer and the incredible EES staff during the upcoming school year! I can’t wait to get to know you all and your sweet children.
I am coming to EES after spending 10 years at Peak View Elementary. During my time at Peak View, I taught kindergarten, second grade, and third grade. I truly loved my time as a classroom teacher. Over the past two years I have been working toward my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership at JMU and I am looking forward to finishing my degree during the upcoming school year.
My family is excited to be part of the EES community along with me this year! My husband Eric, teaches in the College of Education at JMU. We have two daughters, Lila (10) and Phoebe (2). This summer we have enjoyed going to Dewey Beach in Delaware and have also loved the time we have spent with my parents who live in Indiana and Eric’s parents who live locally.
I am honored for the opportunity to serve the EES community and I look forward to seeing you all very soon!
