Practice-a-thon this Friday, September 22nd

We are very excited to announce that we have raised over $11,000 (and met our program goal)! Thank you to everyone who participated in helping out our program. As we told the students, this money goes right back to them in many forms.

Now, it is almost time for our Practice-a-thon event (Friday, 9/22 from 6-9pm). We would like to see every student in the Wilson Ram Band participating, but know that the date did not line up in everyone's schedules. Thank you to those of you who have already filled out our permission slip/ RSVP form. If you haven't yet, please do so on the link below.

Please prepare for what your child needs to bring to the event:

  • Brass - Canned soft drinks/ water bottles (at least 6)

  • Woodwinds - 1 large bag of chips

  • Percussion - 1 package of cookies

Other reminders:

Only Wilson Band students and chaperones are allowed at the event. Students will be signing up this week for a 30-minute time slot to practice. Students will check-in when they arrive and may not leave early without checking out with a parent.

There are a few new events that have been added to our busy October. Please see the monthly dates below and on our event calendar.

Wind Ensemble Sectionals - Schedule Change beginning September 25

The Wind Ensemble sectional schedule is shifting beginning the week of September 25-29. Please see the updated schedule below. Sectional times are either before school (7:25-8:15) or after school (3:50-4:40).

Beginning Band Wind Instrument Supply List

The winds link is for all wind instruments: flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, & tuba. Scroll down on the document to find the supply page you need.

Beginning Band Percussion Supply List

All supplies will be needed throughout the year, but if you may delay the purchase of timpani mallets (not used until Spring semester) and the rental marimba (not used until September).

PISD Approved Music Stores

These local stores will have the supplies that you need. Some stores you can even purchase online without visiting in person. These stores should also be able deliver the supplies for you to the school if necessary.

Concert Band/ Symphonic Band/ Wind Ensemble Supplies:

Linked below is the summer letter that went out in May. There are some new supplies included within. Students still need all of the supplies from their beginner year except the beginning band book and mirror. Please see the "Beginning Band" supply lists linked above for instrument specific supplies.
