A Publication For KMS Parents & Students
July 28, 2021
Dear Killough Students and Parents,
Welcome to the 2021- 2022 school year at Killough Middle School (KMS)! Hopefully, you have taken time to rest, relax, and recharge this summer! We are delighted that our students will return to campus this fall for in-person learning beginning Tuesday, August 10th!! Please know that Killough Middle School and Alief ISD is concerned about the safety and well-being of all persons on our campuses. We would like to invite you to Killough Kamp on August 5th from 5:30 - 7:30 to learn more about our great school and the wonderful things we have in store for your child. The doors open at 5:00 pm.
Killough’s teachers and staff work tirelessly, and value our time spent making sure your child is provided a memorable, positive, and productive middle school experience. Middle school is a time of change; the academic and social adjustments are greater here than at the elementary and intermediate levels.
At KMS, we value every student and want them to know that we have high expectations of them…and they should have high expectations of us. Our students matter! Positive relationships matter! Student learning matters! Good teaching matters! It All Matters! #IAMKMS.
Rest assured, we are ready to provide the necessary skills to prepare your child for high school and college and career. Killough staff, students, parents, and our community partners must work together to make student success a reality. We start by adhering to our school’s expectations which push our students to become SOARING Eagles. We SOAR by being Successful, On time, Appropriately dressed and Respectful of self and others. These qualities will help build our students’ independence which, in turn, will lead them to success, both now, and in the future.

Drop-off/Pick-up procedures
Please follow the Drop Off/Pick Up procedures below to ensure the safety of all students arriving to school in the morning and their safe pickup in the afternoon. Please park/drop off/pick up in the parking lot at the front of the school. Do not enter or park in the staff parking lot/bus zone.
Morning
All students will be dropped off in the morning at the school’s front driveway. A staff member will be on site to assist; please follow his/her directives. Street cones will be placed in the driveway to form one lane of traffic flow. Please pull up all the way to the front of the drive (where the flag pole is located). At this location, your child may exit the vehicle and walk to either the bus canopy doors to the cafeteria to wait for breakfast or to the gym doors at the back of the building. Please do not park in the fire lane. This puts our students and staff at risk.
