Weekly Happenings at Southeastern Elementary
Principal's Postings
Welcome to the Nov. 13, 2020, edition of Southeastern Scene.
Dear Southeastern Families:
On behalf of our entire SES Staff we would like to take this moment to honor our Veterans. Thank you for helping to preserve our freedom and making it real for us. We are forever grateful to you for all your sacrifices and we celebrate that you make the world a better place with your dedication, courage, and brilliance. Today and every day, we celebrate you. Our students and staff spent special time this week honoring and celebrating our Veterans. We hope you take time to enjoy the beautiful images below of these celebrations.
Forever grateful,
Mrs. Chastain and Mrs. Monkul

Nurses Notes
COVID Exposure. What to do now?
According to the Fishers Health Department, these measures should be followed:
1. Begin Quarantine. Stay home and try to limit exposure to those in the home. The only person who needs to quarantine is the person who was directly exposed. Quarantine is 14 days from the date of exposure.
2. Get Tested. Testing is recommended for anyone with exposure, ideally 5 days after the date of exposure. Kids 5 years and older can be tested at the Fishers testing site. Please visit www.fishers.in.us/healthdepartment .
3. If you take your child to the doctor or to get a COVID test, please notify the school immediately.
4. Call Your Doctor. Since your primary care physician knows your health history, we suggest reaching out to them to notify them of exposure.
5. You Develop Symptoms. Get tested! Everyone in the household should quarantine unless an alternative diagnosis is given by a healthcare provider.
6. You Test Positive. Begin isolation. Stay home and away from others, including members of your household. The rest of your household needs to quarantine. Isolation is a minimum of 10 days from the start of symptoms, or the date you are tested if you don’t have symptoms.
7. You Have Questions. If you have any questions, please call 317-567-5046.
Virtual Enrichment
Virtual students (or any student currently unable to attend school due to COVID) are being offered an enrichment session each day. This practice has been in place but there are changes below that we want to bring to your attention. These new times will begin Monday, November 9th.
- The enrichment session will begin at 1:45pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and is divided by grade level groups: K-1 or 2-4. Please choose the one you feel best fits your learner.
- The enrichment session on Tuesdays and Thursdays is open to all grade levels K-4.
Students can access these virtual sessions through the Library course on their Canvas dashboard. There they will find the button (see button image below) to take them to the Zoom links for each day.

Creative Learning
First grade field trip
The Nature First program offers children the chance to explore nature in new ways. Direct experience in nature is important to a child’s intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development. Multiple studies have found endless benefits to environmental education programs, including increases in: cooperation and conflict resolution skills, self-esteem, problem solving, motivation to learn, and improved classroom behavior.
Some of our first grade classes enjoyed the Nature First program on an outdoor field trip to Ritchey Woods where they put these lessons into practice.
