Device Return Instructions for Digital Learners
Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the 2020-21 school year, we want to communicate our plan for device return to our school. All devices checked out to students must be checked back in to the Dyer Elementary at the end of the 2020-21 school year so that tech teams can begin preparing the devices for summer learning activities and the coming school year. If your student has a school-owned Chromebook, laptop, hot spot, or other device, please plan to return the device in the front office next week during dates and times listed below.
Tuesday 5/25 8AM - 3PM
Wednesday 5/26: 8AM - 3PM
Thursday 5/27: 8AM - 3PM
When returning your device, please bring all components, including chargers and hotspots; have the device fully charged and powered on in order to expedite the return process.
Devices will be assessed for damage upon return and fines may be assigned based on the damage in order to cover the cost of replacement parts and repairs. Fines can be paid by credit or debit card, cash, or check at the time of the return. If a device is returned in good condition, no fine will be assigned. Device services will be turned off and fines for replacing the device will be assigned if a device is not returned.

School Supply Giveaway!
Get a head start on next year or have some supplies for Summer Enrichment & Acceleration!
Please email your counselors by May 21st at melody.ellis@gcpsk12.org or dawn.garner@gcpsk12.org if you would like some supplies. They will be sent home with your student before the end of the year. If your student is digital, we can get the supplies ready for pick-up before the last day of school. The supplies are packaged in a backpack and will not be everything your child will need, but it will be a great start to your supply hunting!
Media Center Items Due!
A Note from the Clinic:
Hi DYER families!
It's hard to believe we are almost at the end of another school year!
As we start to wrap up, I wanted to go ahead and send out information about picking up your child's medication(s) from the clinic. I have sent home letters with your student if I have meds in the clinic for them. Please read and indicate your preference for picking up or disposing of those meds and return to the clinic by May 17. We will then schedule a time to pick up when school is out!
Thank you!

5th Grade Promotion Ceremony Information!
Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
As previously shared, we will be able to carry on our tradition of a Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony. We will hold a separate ceremony for each homeroom class on Tuesday, May 25th at Dyer ES in the Cafeteria. Due to social distancing and safety protocols, our ceremony will look a little different this year but with your support, we know we can create a wonderful memory for our students. Please continue reading for more information on how you can help ensure this event is a success.
Dyer’s Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremonies Schedule:
8:30AM - Mrs. McEntee’s Homeroom
9:30 AM - Mrs. Buck’s Homeroom
10:30AM - Mr. Kriete’s Homeroom
11:30AM - Mrs. Ware’s Homeroom
12:30PM - Mrs. Hill’s Homeroom
1:30PM - Mrs. Janda’s Homeroom
Due to limited space and social distancing, each student will be allocated two seats for in-person viewing. All guests are required to wear a mask (fully covering nose and mouth). Social distancing will be utilized as much as possible but is not guaranteed. Non-school age children may attend with parents but must be able to sit in the parent’s lap for the entire ceremony (strollers will be parked under the bus lane awnings to support social distancing).
If your child is an In-Person student, you will find enclosed two wristbands that guests must wear to attend. If your child is a Digital student, you will be able to pick up your wristbands at the school beginning Monday, May 17th.
Please park in the side parking lot and enter through the exterior door closest to the cafeteria/playground. Doors will open for parents 15 minutes prior to the start time. Each session will be approximately 30 minutes in length to allow time between each session for cleaning and sanitizing. Due to time constraints, we will not be able to provide a time for parents to take pictures with their fifth grader or see them before/after the ceremony.
If parents of in-person students intend to check out their child after the ceremony, be sure to communicate with your child and homeroom teacher to expedite the check-out process. Remember, photo identification is required for all check-outs and the parent or family member checking the student out must be identified as an emergency contact. Once the ceremony is over, parents will need to go to the front atrium to check out their child. Students that are checking out will not be permitted to retrieve belongings from the classroom until the following day, so please plan accordingly.
Digital students who plan to attend should arrive 15 minutes prior to their ceremony and check-in at the front doors of the cafeteria. If a student does not attend the Awards Ceremony, awards will be available for pick-up in the front office beginning Wednesday, May 26, at 8:00 a.m.
For the Awards Ceremony, students usually enjoy dressing up a little more than they do for school, but please do not think that you need to purchase new clothing! We look forward to honoring and celebrating our 5th graders on May 25.
Should you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or Mrs. Armstrong, 5th grade Assistant Principal.
Sincerely,
Mr. DiFilippo
Principal

Dyer Parent Shout Outs!
Don't forget, parents can give staff PAWS points too! If there is a Dyer staff member that you would like to recognize, send them a Shout Out! Please fill out this form to acknowledge and individual or group. Mr. DiFilippo will share your shout out at our weekly faculty meeting, and give that staff member/group a PAWS point. Don't know the name of who you want to acknowledge? That's okay, each question is set up for a short answer response, instead of typing their name, you can type a description, (i.e. ladies that work in car- rider line each morning).
