flappers were Young western women.Who wore short skirts and puffed their hair.They listened to jazz music and drank and they smoked and had a bad sexual manner.They stopped toward the end of WW1 but some continued and moved to Europe to continue their jobs.
The Term Flappers
The slang word “Flapper” ment like a young bird learning to fly but also used as “teenage girl”.The term also may have derived from an earlier use in northern england meaning teen girls, whose hair is not put up but in pigtails that flapped. Also for older women who were prostitutes. It was later use for a very young prostitute. Then was used for prostitutes in general.
