We encourage you to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and/or umbrellas to create a comfortable and shaded area for your family. Additionally, you may bring lunch for your student to enjoy during the picnic.

Guest/Attendees will not check-in at the office nor come on to campus. Simply let your student(s) know ahead of time that you will be meeting them in the park for lunch. Students will meet you in the park during their lunch period and return to recess/class when their lunch is over.

5th Grade parents, we are continuing the tradition of "Clapping out" the 5th graders on the last day of school. How this will work: Parents can create 2 lines (making a path down the middle for 5th graders to walk through) on the grassy area by the park outside the fence. There is no need to check into the office. If you can be all lined up by 1:25pm we will be dismissing 5th graders a few minutes early so they can begin their clap-out walk. The entire school will be lined up outside and clapping/cheering them on as they are dismissed for the final time as a 5th grader. 5th grade students will dismiss on to the field while all other student will dismiss out of the front and back gates like usual.

IMPORTANT HEALTH REMINDER

With the change in weather it seems cold and flu season is now upon us. This is a friendly reminder that if your student has a fever of 100.5 or has thrown up, they must stay home until they are fever free and haven't thrown up, without medication, for at least 24 hours. Thanks for helping us keep staff and students healthy!

EMERGENCY CARD UPDATE - REQUIRED

PLEASE NOTE THAT IT LOOKS DIFFERENT THAN LAST YEAR. FOLLOW THE BELOW INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1

  • Click HERE to access the Parent Portal
  • If you've never created an online PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you will need to create an account now using information provided above.
  • If you already have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you can sign in using the email and password you chose when setting up your account and complete the Emergency Contact Update & Required Student Waivers. (You can use the same account to complete forms for multiple children).

STEP 2

  • Sign in to the portal. Click on "Forms" on bottom left side of screen.
  • Click on the "Enrollment" tab at the top
  • Work through each form (5 total) to update all required information. Once completed, click 'Submit'.

***Please note that failure to update your child’s emergency information and electronically sign the Student Waiver Forms may restrict them from participation in extracurricular activities, class field trips and use of technology during non-class time.***

For those that recently registered a new student to WPUSD, you do not need to complete this process, as it was done during the new student registration process. If you have not set up a Parent Portal account, you should have received an email from the District with detailed instructions on how to set up your account. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 916-645-6350.

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

Attendance Reminder
If you need to report your student's absence you need to contact our attendance clerk, Maritza, with the reason for their absence. There are several ways to do this that are the most efficient ways: email: Mpisik@wpusd.org with your student's name and reason for absence (if they are sick you need to let us know what their symptoms are and for how long they have had them), respond to the email attendance alert via Parent Square OR the TBE app, or you can call the attendance message line directly at 916-434-5210. We have a very busy front office so if you could report your absence one of the ways above it would greatly help free up the phone lines for those needing to call. It's always a good idea to send a quick email to the teachers as well so they are aware of the absence.
For those students who are out sick: if they are going to be absent more than 2-3 days due to illness, please let us know so we can have you sign an "Independent Study" so the teacher can give them their class work so they don't get behind while they are absent.
Big picture

TRAVEL STUDIES...WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

**DEADLINE TO SUBMIT A TRAVEL STUDY IS MAY 19TH!**

If your student is going to be out of town and absent for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 14 days, you will need to inform the front office of this absence no later than 1-2 weeks prior to leaving (the more time the better). Once the office has been informed, they will email you a travel study contract to electronically sign and will notify the teacher of the absence so they can get together all the work needed.

Teachers are very busy getting together needed work, so please be patient and give ample time before going on vacation.

*TRAVEL/INDEPENDENT STUDIES ARE NOT ALLOWED DURING THE FIRST 2 WEEKS OF SCHOOL OR LAST 2 WEEKS OF SCHOOL.
