We are looking for parent volunteers on this field trip. If you are interested in coming along for the field trip to the ice arena, please contact one the teachers. We would love the extra help in supervision!
The concessions stand will not be open.
Please remind your student to dress appropriately. Although, it is indoors, it still is an ice arena so long pants would be preferred, along with socks.
Mike Ramsey, member of the gold medal Miracle on Ice team, will be able to Skype in and do an interview with our students on Tuesday, February 20th, as part of our Olympic unit.
- A reminder that you can also get Empower news on Twitter. This is where we post more pictures of activities in the classroom @mckempower.
- This year we are short on tissues for the classroom. We would love to get some donations for our classrooms
ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Drivers. On Wednesday, February 28, Mrs. Reynolds' 6th grade Block 1 class has been invited to the county building for their last Junior Achievement class “It’s My Future – Blended.” Sara, the community volunteer teacher, has arranged to have the kids eat breakfast, have their last class, and then meet some of the folks that work in the building. We need volunteers to drive 22 students to the Linn County Treasurer's Office at 935 2nd Street SW. Students will leave McKinley at 8 am and be back to McKinley by 9:25. You will stay with the students during the class. If you are able to drive, please respond to this e-mail. Let me know how many kids you are able to transport in your vehicle.
Grizzly Cove (McKinley's food pantry). Mrs. Seward is looking for 2-3 volunteers to help distribute food on Friday's from 1:15 to 1:45 to qualifying students. As the volunteer's time permits, Mrs. Seward could also use assistance organizing and ordering products. If interested or for more information, please respond to this e-mail.
