Retrieval and Return of Items
Dear Rennell Redhawk Families,
Thank you so much for your efforts in assisting your children with their learning at home. Although our school building will remain closed the rest of this school year, we are so proud that the learning has continued for our Redhawks. We know that your children left many items at school before we left for Spring Break as none of us predicted how different our world would be after. Here at Rennell, we’ve been working on a plan to get your child’s items back to you as well as collect library books and other school resources as safely and easily as possible.
Retrieval and Return of Items
Your child’s teachers are wearing masks and gloves this week as they work to gather all of your child’s items (completed papers, stories, notebooks, supplies, lunch boxes, etc.) into one brown grocery bag with their name on it. Our process for retrieval of student items will be as follows:
Parents will drive through the BACK parking lot (by the gym and cafeteria) for curbside pickup of student items and returning library books and school-owned items.
Our front parking lot will continue to be used for packet distribution on Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-1pm.
As you move forward in the car rider line, you will give your student(s) name(s) to a staff member so that we can have their items ready for you when you pull ahead.
To alleviate person to person interaction, you will stop at the designated colored cone, get out of your car and retrieve your children’s items which have been placed on a cart for you.
There will be a station to stop and return library books, car rider number tags, and/or any other school- or teacher- owned items. When you get to this station, you will stop, get out of the car, and place the library books, car rider tags, and/or other school-owned items into the appropriate bins.
There will be a station for lost and found items. In order to keep the line moving and not hold up traffic, parents wishing to look through the lost and found items will need to park in the back parking lot, get out, social distance while waiting their turn, and look through the items.
In order to return and collect items from our more than 1,100 students, we have created a schedule by student last name so that we can quickly and efficiently get these items to you.
Tuesday, May 12
Last Names A-C from 9-11am
Last Names D-G from 12-2pm
Wednesday, May 13
Last Names H-L from 9-11am
Last Names M-P from 12-2pm
Thursday, May 14
Last Names Q-S from 9-11am
Last Names T-Z from 12-2pm
We ask that you make every effort to come during the above scheduled times to ensure that the process is quick and efficient, however we do understand that everyone has different work schedules and family needs at this time. If you are UNABLE to come during the day, we have two evening times scheduled:
Wednesday, May 13
Last Names A-L from 5-6:30pm
Thursday, May 14
Last Names M-Z from 5-6:30pm
Any items that are not picked up after Thursday evening will be donated and/or disposed of as we prepare our classrooms for next school year.
Please remember to look for and bring all library books, car rider tags, and teacher- or school-owned items with you at your allotted time above. We appreciate your help and support to make this process as smooth as possible!
Kind Regards,
Meredith Akers

Dear Redhawk Families,
We are so excited to share our May Core Essentials Value with you! This month we are discussing DETERMINATION. We know that staying motivated is a challenge- especially this time of the year. Sometimes obstacles try to get in the way of us reaching our goals. We have to encourage ourselves and others not to give up! Determination is deciding it is worth it to finish what we have started. Watch our videos below to hear a little more on determination:

We are focusing on our last letter in our SOAR matrix this week! The “R” in SOAR stands for RESPECTFUL. We focus on being respectful by following three main ideas:
Stop, Look, and Listen. We encourage students to STOP what they are doing when someone is addressing them. Look at that person and then LISTEN for what is being instructed or said.
Disagreeing Appropriately. There are going to be times when kids do not agree. Learning to disagree appropriately is a way where both parties can be heard and respected.
Choose Kind. We encourage showing kindness in not only our words, but our actions as well.
Keep an eye out for your weekly counselor PBIS lesson in your class newsletter!
Hugs!

Has your Redhawk had a birthday since we left Spring Break (March 7 or later)? Do they have a birthday in the coming week? Mrs. Akers would love to recognize them in the Redhawk Reader, however, we don't want to post any names without parent permission. If you would like your child to be recognized, please submit the information at this link.
