We look forward seeing many of you at the upcoming conferences and strongly encourage you to participate in your students school experience. If you are pressed for time a phone call or virtual meeting is a great way to connect.
We truly appreciate all of our Veterans and many student wrote letters that will be shared with our local folks. It is important to recognize these men and women that have served their country.

Reminders/ Updates
Car Loop Reminder: We wanted to take a moment to remind all families on our arrival and dismissal protocols within the car loop. All families/community should enter the car loop on Mill Road and take left out of the parking lot towards Boston Road (click here for a visual) unless directed differently by staff. These procedures have been determined by our school based incident management team in collaboration with the Chelmsford Police Department and there is signage on these roads to reflect school business is occurring during these times. It is essential that all members of the community adhere to these traffic patterns for the safety of all members of our community. We have been noticing that cars are sometimes exiting out of the loop and taking a right towards Mill Rd (especially towards the end of arrival and dismissal) which has posed safety concerns. Although we recognize this may be a convenience factor to get to your next destination, we kindly ask that all community members adhere to the traffic pattern regardless as to the time or amount of cars on the access road. Thank you for your support and understanding and for adhering to this request daily. Additionally, please do not exit the car loop until directed by staff and please be sure to listen to requests/direction by staff when in the car loop to ensure a safe and orderly dismissal. This is for the safety of students and staff. Please reach out to Mr. Ramalho directly with any questions
Coats: Now that we approach are approaching the colder months, please be sure your your child wears a coat and/or jacket to school as we do our very best to have outdoor recess every day (weather permitting). If your family is in need of one, please contact a member of the support team.

Dear South Row Families,
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month!
Knowing the signs of type I diabetes can save a child’s life! If your child exhibits these symptoms, reach out to their pediatrician for advice.
Frequent urination
Increased thirst
Bed-wetting in children who previously didn't wet the bed during the night
Extreme hunger
Unintended weight loss
Irritability and other mood changes
Fatigue and weakness
Blurred vision
People who have type 1 diabetes can’t use glucose (the body’s main type of sugar) for energy. That’s because their body stopped making the hormone insulin. Normally, after we eat, the amount of glucose in the blood (blood sugar) goes up. When it does, the pancreas sends insulin into the blood. Insulin works like a key that opens the doors of the body’s cells to let the glucose in, giving the cells the energy they need.
In type 1 diabetes, the pancreas doesn’t make insulin. Without insulin, glucose can't get into the cells. It stays in the blood, which leads to high blood sugar. Having too much sugar in the blood isn’t healthy and can cause problems.

Beth W. is working to put together a re-imagined gift shop where kids can independently purchase small gifts for ANY upcoming celebration in your family while their grown-ups wait in the other room. We are looking for 3-4 parents (or even teachers) who would like to help with the re-creation of this event. Beth will be at the PTO meeting on Monday if you want to talk in person with her before committing. Otherwise, you can email southrowPTO@gmail.com to let us know you can help.
