Classroom Happenings

Students finished their posters for one extraordinary person as we continued our celebration of the centennial of the Harlem Renaissance.

Students designed and created a Heritage Postage Stamp as well as completed an annotated bibliography for their research.

How does a state become a state?

This week, we briefly discussed the first three states to ratify the U.S. Constitution-Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Constitution went into effect on June 21, 1788, after ratification by 9 of the 13 states, and the federal government began operations under it on March 4, 1789.

The process of creating a new state is written in Article IV, Section 3 of the Constitution.

Students are working on one of the six options to explore and research this semester:

Model UN

20% Project

Track a Legislator

Podcast Challenge

Some students have chosen more than one option.
