School Information
New Carpool Lane Barrier:
New lane barriers (pictured to the right) have been installed at the merge point in our carpool lane and are intended to help facilitate merging. Please be advised that the barriers are very heavy and may cause damage to your vehicle if you hit them. With that in mind, neither the district nor the school will assume any liability for damages caused by striking the barriers. We kindly ask that you be courteous to others and allow vehicles in the left lane to merge safely.
Rising Kindergarten Orientation:
Have a rising kindergarten student? Join us for a VIRTUAL Kindergarten Orientation event on Monday, April 4th OR Monday, April 25th (choose one) from 5:30-6:30 PM. The meeting link is embedded in the flyer below.
Attention 5th Grade Families:
The PTA is collecting baby pictures for each child currently enrolled in 5th grade. The pictures will be used to create a video montage as part of the end-of-year "Moving Up" celebration. For more information and directions to submit your picture, please see the flyer linked below.
Rising 6th Grade Tours at West Cary:
Families whose rising 6th-grade students will attend West Cary Middle may begin signing up for school tours. Please use this link to sign up.
Non-Returning Family Survey:
Parents of current Kindergarten - 4th-grade students who are not returning to Northwoods for the 2022-23 school year are asked to complete this survey so that we may begin planning for future staffing needs. Families of rising 6th graders DO NOT need to complete the survey unless their child is transferring out of district or state.
Field Day:
Mark your calendars! Field Day is scheduled for May 13th with a tentative rain date of May 16th. Both dates have been added to our community calendar. More information, including our field day schedule, will be shared in the coming weeks.
Field Day Volunteers:
Mrs. Forsberg is in need of volunteers to help run games during field day. If you would like to volunteer, please sign-up for one or more slots on this sign-up. As a reminder, all volunteers must first complete the WCPSS Volunteer Registration application.
End-of-Grade (EOG) Assessments:
All 3rd-5th grade students (including students participating in Virtual Academy) are REQUIRED to take their End-of-Grade Assessments this year. All assessments will be administered in person between May 27th and June 10th. More information, including grade-specific administration dates, will be shared in the coming weeks. Until then, please notify your child's teacher if you are planning to travel and may miss the EOGs so that we can make alternative arrangements for your child.
SPRING FUNDRAISER
DanceFit Fundraiser:
Our 2nd annual Northwoods Elementary DanceFit fundraiser is just three weeks away! The fundraiser will officially kick off on Tuesday, April 19th. Our goal is to raise $15,000 for media center updates & PTA programs and to strengthen our school community. We’ve asked our friends at Booster to power our fundraiser to make it more profitable, fun, and easy for everyone!
Here’s What ALL Students Can Get Excited About:
• Fun, engaging character development lessons
• A high-energy event to give our school a much-needed boost of fun!
If your family feels it’s not in the position to financially support the school, that’s ok. Families can actually support our school by also SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and family online. Sharing IS supporting.
Key Dates to Remember:
• Tuesday, April 5th--Registration/Donating Opens (Register on MYBOOSTER.COM)
• Tuesday, April 19th--Fundraiser Kick-Off
• Thursday, April 28th--Event Day

Recess In the Garden:
The PTA Garden Committee is grateful for the 15 parents who have volunteered for Recess in the Garden. Thanks to our enthusiastic volunteers, teachers of grades kindergarten through fifth have had the opportunity to select students to experience the garden. Please consider signing up so that even more students will have the chance to participate before spring break.
No gardening experience is necessary! Inexperienced volunteers will be paired with a PTA garden committee member. All volunteers must have completed the WCPSS registration process and should sign in at the school office before heading to the garden.
