The Dot

The Dot is a simple, yet powerful, story about a girl named Vashti who does not think that she has any artistic talent. To prove to her art teacher that she cannot draw, Vashti jabs at her paper, creating a small dot. Her teacher helps her realize that she has created something, and she begins to take ownership of it. This is the beginning of a journey for Vashti in which she finds herself and her true creative abilities.

Teachers can read this book in the classroom to teach students that they are all capable of creating something amazing. This book sends the message to students that what they create does not have to be extravagant or perfect. Just by being creative and leaving their mark, they can inspire others to do the same.
