Deerfield's Friend of Education - Audrey Pool!
Deerfield is very lucky to have parents like Audrey Pool supporting our school. When Audrey was told that she was selected as our Friend of Education her response was, “I don’t think I do much at all!” She had to reminded that she has been doing things for our school for 11 years and counting, and all those things add up!
Audrey has been a constant and consistent support for Deerfield. She is always willing to help when needed, even though she has kids at three different schools -- Free State, West and Deerfield AND she has a toddler at home!
Over the past 11 years, Audrey has volunteered for countless room parties, provided food for conference meals, regularly volunteered in her children’s classrooms, served on school committees and helped supervise many school activities.
Audrey quickly became the “go-to” parent we think of first, whenever we need something or somebody. Sometimes without even being asked, Audrey will show up to be our unofficial event photographer, taking memorable photos of Deerfield activities …. Like Big Game Day, Field Day or the highly publicized Deerfield vs. ESC Kickball game.
Audrey is also active behind the scenes. She is our parent rep who serves on our CI3T team and Building Leadership Team. She helps support our Schoolwide CI3T rewards by doing things like organizing, making and running games for Minute to Win it, decorating for our Fall Picnic and supervising Big Game Day. On the night before school started, as staff were leaving for the day, Audrey was just arriving to decorate our Deerfield sign for the 1st day of school.
Audrey has also served on our school site council for several years. Her work with Parents as Teachers and Equity has provided a perspective that ignites conversation and moves others to thought and action.
One of the things we love about Audrey is her bravery --- she is not afraid to ask the tough questions or voice her well-informed opinion - whether that is to me or another teacher, a parent at site council, a board member cornered at our open house or even to Dr. Lewis on his first visit ever to Deerfield (before he was even “officially” on duty :)
All true stories, all done with professionalism and grace, and all done for the betterment of OUR children, OUR school and OUR district.
Mrs. Davis says, "Audrey has been such a blessing to Deerfield staff and students! She is always there to lend a hand whenever we need it and does so with a smile on her face. I'm so lucky and grateful to have her as a parent in my classroom this year!"
So for “not doing much at all”, Audrey has been selected as our Deerfield Friend of Education!
Thank you Audrey, for ALL that you have done
ALL that you do
And ALL that we know is to come!
~ Deerfield Staff and Students
