What is digital piracy?
Digital piracy is using or reproducing someones work without authorization. Such as software, videos, digital video devices, and music.
Why is piracy wrong?
Digital piracy can get you into serious legal trouble when caught. You can get charged with fines over $150,000 and 5 or more years in jail. Piracy is a crime and you can also get into trouble with the federal government
Digital Piracy consequences
Video Piracy
Video Piracy will be investigated by the FBI and can lead up to 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
Music Piracy
Music Piracy has consequences of fines from $100,00-$250,000 and anywhere from 1-3 years in prison
Software Piracy
For Software Piracy you can be sent to prison for multiple years and face thousands and thousands of dollars in fines.
Who else does digital piracy hurt?
The people that do digital piracy aren't he only people hurt. The victims of digital piracy are hurt when their work is downloaded illegally and they don't get credit. The victims can have financial loses because their work isn't credited to them
