Notes from the Principal
Dear West Family,
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Today our school went to the high school musical “Matilda.” Our amazing students did a great job in attendance and the performance was tremendous. If you are interested in attending “Matilda,” it will be showing March 17, 18, 24 and 25. Tickets can be purchased here.
We continue to have fantastic things going on at West!
Next Friday (March 24th) we have an evening of “Book Bingo!”
On Monday, March 27th we will be having our annual Walk-a-Thon during the school day. Our PTC is still taking donations for this event. Representatives from the PTC came to classrooms today to publicize this event, so please ask your child about it.
As always please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have- we really appreciate your continued support!
Best,
Tony

Attendance
Student Absences
Just a reminder if your student is absent please email westoffice@nvps.net or call 616.361.3470 the day of the absence.
Student Tardy
Students are marked tardy if they arrive to class after the 8:15 bell. Please make sure to sign them in on the Chromebook located in our lobby if you drop off students after this time.
*If your student is attending an appointment of any kind please provide us with a doctor's note.
We are now at the point where truancy/attendance letters have begun being sent out and want to make sure we are working together to have your student in school as often as possible. Please know that this reporting it mandatory by the state of Michigan and is something we have to do.
Nurse's Corner
- Please remember that you cannot send medicine to school with a student, regardless of it is OTC or prescription. A Northview permission form for medication at school must be filled out before office staff can give it to the student.
- A fever is a temperature greater than 100.4F (according to the CDC). Do not send your child to school for 24 hours after the fever has broken and without the use of fever-reducing medication. A low grade fever is 99.0 - 100.3F. If your child is not feeling well enough to attend school, please keep them home.
- We have noticed an increase of students with chapped lips this winter. You can send chapstick in a backpack or use vaseline at home to help with this.
- Although lice is not a communicable disease, it can be a nuisance. As a parent, it is your responsibility to check and remove lice and nits from your child's hair. Please click here for the KCHD fact sheet.
- For the younger children, it is a great idea to keep an extra pair of underwear and pants in a ziploc bag in the bottom of their backpack (accidents happen).
- Continue to practice good hand and cough hygiene with your children.
