Safety in Bowie ISD
Standard Response Protocol Bowie ISD uses the Standard Response Protocol on all campuses. We have 5 different drills that we run, practice, and if needed execute in an emergency. For more information, you can look on the I Love You Guys Website. | See Something/ Say SomethingBowie ISD maintains a tip line to allow parents, students, and community members to report concerns affecting our campuses. This includes threats, bullying, drug use, suspected abuse or neglect, and any other concerns that may affect our students' physical safety or health. It is important to provide as many details as possible (dates/ times/ names/ locations, etc.) so that your tip may be investigated appropriately. You may remain anonymous, but it is often helpful if we can contact you for additional information if needed. When you see something, say something by completing the form that can be found on all BISD websites, the BISD App or by scanning the QR code found in all BISD schools. | SRO's We are very fortunate to have a Student Resource Officer (SRO) on each campus in Bowie ISD. They conduct the required door checks daily, check on our staff and students, attend to any threats or concerns, and build positive relationships with our students. This year, we have keyless entry on all exterior doors thanks to grant money and a lot of hard work by our BISD maintenance department and administrators. This helps us regulate who and when people are entering our schools. |

Things to pay attention to in BISD
Curriculum & Parent Orientation MeetingEach BISD Campus will be having a Curriculum/Parent Orientation Meeting. During these meetings, the principal will conduct the Title 1 presentation and share parent's right to know about programs, services, and how BISD wants to partner with parents for student success. You will also hear from the classes or grade levels on expectations, curriculum resources used, how to access curriculum, grading, homework, and how to help your child. BISD encourages you to attend and be an active participant in your child's education and ask questions that will help with student success. | Paper Request for EOC Testing in DecemberSenate Bill 1225-Paper Administration of STAAR Test ▪ SB 1225 states that school districts may administer assessments in a paper format to students upon request of parent, guardian, or teacher, up to 3% of district enrollment. BISD plans on honoring requests up to 3% of the total number of students testing. ▪ Parent, guardian, or teacher can make a request. ▪ Request must be submitted to the district via the Paper Request Google Form not later than 9/15/23 for December EOC Retest administration and 12/1/23 for spring administration of assessments. | Finding Student Progress Report/Report Card and STAAR performance You can now find your student's STAAR scores, latest Progress Reports, and Report Cards in Ascender Parent Portal. Log into Ascender Parent Portal and look below your child's picture card for two green buttons labeled Texas Assessment or Progress Report/Report Card. Click on them for your child's academics. You can also monitor your child's individual grades, check attendance, and receive alerts for failing or missing grades in your Ascender Parent Portal. It is important to BISD that you have access to your child's academic progress at all times. |

Out and About in BISD
BIS Singers Bowie Intermediate students sand "The National Anthem" before the first football game. They did a great job of learning the words at school in a very short time. They also learned the history of the anthem and the difference between an anthem and a song. | Community Pep Rally The stands were completely for our 1st Community Pep Rally. All ages were present, but the underlying theme was Bowie's Pride and Spirit! Thank you all who came out to support our athletes and band. | College Career and Military Ready BISD strives to help 100% of our graduating students be college, career, or military-ready. Through different classes and pathways offered at BHS, we help students with career certificates, knowledge, and work experience. Like the Bowie ISD CCMR Facebook page to see the amazing opportunities and dedication of our students to their futures. |

Bowie FFAThese Bowie FFA members raised the flags at the football game. This is another Facebook page you will want to like to see how our FFA students are involved in the community, competitions, learning, and having hands-on experiences. | Food as Manipulatives These students are using snacks to help visualize percentages. Math taught with manipulatives helps build the concrete level of learning. | Goal Setting Students in a 5th grade Reading class used sentence stems to record their goals on unit assessments. All students in BISD take unit assessments for each class in which they are enrolled. Goal setting is a great way to show growth, increase student ownership of their learning, use data to learn from our mistakes and celebrate success. Ask your child about their unit assessments and get invested in their academic performance. We love to partner with parents to help develop student success. |
