Happy Friday, DPM Families!
We loved seeing so many moments of students engaged in rigorous and relevant experiences in DPM classrooms this week, from our band students learning the Avengers’ theme song to language arts students writing and analyzing strong claims to learning Latin through the world of Minecraft.
We’d also like to congratulate our 7th-grade language arts teacher Nicole Karkazis on winning the Award of Excellence in the Early Career Educator category from the Illinois State Board of Education. Ms. Karkazis has been an incredible contributor to DPM since she returned “home” (Did you know Nicole is a DPM Grad?!). She consistently leads her classroom with kindness, respect, compassion, and empathy… while maintaining high expectations for all students. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Karkazis!
As we go into the second half of the school year and the heart of winter, we are encouraging all students to represent our core values at Deer Path: perseverance, integrity, compassion, curiosity, and funtastic. Thank you for reinforcing our message to students to show kindness to peers in all daily interactions.
Last but not least, good luck to our Deer Path wrestling team tomorrow as we host the annual DPM Wrestling Tournament. Go Braves!
Sincerely,
Megan Eigenrauch, 5/6 Principal
Sam Paulsen, 7/8 Principal

Valentine's Day Parties & Vocal Valentines
With Valentine’s Day coming up in a couple of weeks, we’d like to remind everyone that we do not exchange the traditional “Valentines” in classes. Each grade level will celebrate in some way on February 14. If parents are helping with snacks for the day, please know if they contain allergens, they'll be held until the end of the day and then sent home with the family who donated them.
Leading up to the day, students can purchase a Vocal Valentine from Pop A Cappella. Vocal Valentines are sold at lunch for $2 through the end of next week and will be delivered on Tuesday, February 14. All proceeds will be donated to The Children’s Heart Foundation.

All D67 Families are Invited to Highlight Your Heritage on March 8
In honor of World Language Week, we invite all District families to join us at Deer Path Middle School on Wednesday, March 8, for a night to travel around the globe and visit the different cultures that D67 represents. We are looking for families or groups who are willing to set up a table and make a poster board to share your heritage. Please respond on this Google form if you would like to participate.

8th Grade Families!
The Class of 2023 is starting to gear up for the end of the year, and that means we’d like to start collecting photos of your grad that will be included in a class photo montage.
We would like you to send us:
1) a photo of your child when they were little (baby, toddler, etc just no naked baby photos please!) and
2) a more recent one of them as an 8th grader.
Ideally these would be photos with only your child but we’ll do our best to crop out other family members. A photo of a hard copy photo is ok too!
Please send them to our Class of 2023 mailbox at deerpathapt5678@gmail.com. Any questions? Ask monica.yaun@gmail.com
