Tentative Agreement Reached for the Upcoming School Year
September 7, 2020 (Framingham, MA) Labor Day in the Framingham Public Schools is more than a day-off; it is recognition of the labor movement and the values of collaboration between stakeholders in support of our shared educational mission.
It is only fitting that after more than a month of negotiations, that today, on Labor Day we are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement on a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the upcoming school year.
The MOA covers the topics of:
Health and Safety
Air Quality and HVAC Systems
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Physical Distancing, and Personal Hygiene
Cleaning Protocols
Restructuring Practices to Reduce Risk
Work Year Schedule and School Calendar
Remote Phase, including Teleworking Agreements, and Teaching and Learning Expectations
Hybrid Phase, including Teaching and Learning Expectations
Leaves; and
Evaluations
FTA members will be receiving information through personal emails about informational virtual meetings and ratification.
The District and individual schools will continue to communicate with families in advance of the first day of remote school on Wednesday September 16th.
Thank you to the members of the bargaining teams for your hard work, and thank you to the greater community for your patience while we worked through these important details.
We wish everyone the best during this long Labor Day weekend.

Adam Freudberg, School Committee Chair

Newest Updates (Made September 2, 2020)
Update to the FAQs
A new question and answer was posted to the FAQs in the Physical Operations page / section regarding chromebooks.
QUESTION: Can my child use their own chromebook vs. a school issued chromebook?
While students are able to use their own personal devices to access remote learning, the District recommends that all Framingham Public School elementary and middle school students use school-issued chromebooks. The high school remains optional.
School issued chromebooks have a few features that have been added on to make them work better in our classrooms.
They have protection against unauthorized and potentially harmful sites.
They allow teachers to use a program called Securly which allows them to control each student's chromebook during class time. This is most often used in elementary and middle schools.
The district’s technology staff can troubleshoot or replace technology that is not working.
Facility Safety and PPE Update: Please check the PPE and HVAC page.
