Fall Parent Meeting - Thursday, August 9th @6:10pm

If you have a child participating in a Fall Sport, please plan on attending our Fall Parent Meeting on Thursday, August 9th from 6:10 - 7:10 in the LGI. At this meeting you will learn of the expectations of athletics at Eastwood as well as become informed of numerous opportunities and important dates throughout the season. Players are expected to attend as well. If you have any questions, please contact James Tutin (jtutin@msdwt.k12.in.us) with any questions. Prior to this meeting, please read and complete all portions of the Eastwood Athletics Packet. Students will not be able to participate in any competition until all parts of this packet are completed and signed. You can find the downloadable form here.

Fall Sports - Please Read

As we prepare for our fall semester, please mark the dates of upcoming sport dates in your calendar.

Washington Township Schools host a number of athletic teams in the fall season. Incoming 6th graders, please note that not all sports are available. Prior to the first day of practice or tryouts, all potential participants must have a valid physical on file with our main office. Physicals completed on or after April 1, 2018 are good for the 2018 - 2019 school year. Most students will have to update their physicals. In addition, all students and parents must read and sign the releases pertaining to Concussions and Cardiac Arrest. Full packets are prepared and available at the front desk. Additionally, you can follow this link to download the complete packet to your computer. 2018-2019 Athletic Physical Packet

Major Projects and Improvements

Over the last couple of years, I have had the opportunity to assess and evaluate the current status of Eastwood's facilities and equipment. As some of you know pieces of our inventory have not been addressed for some time. None of the issues that remain are safety concerns but many of them impact the vision I have for Eastwood Athletics. Below are a list of some of the needs I hope to address over the next few years. Some parents and families have asked how they can help to expedite these projects. If you are interested in donating to these funds, please contact Debbie Shively our treasurer (dshively@msdwt.k12.in.us). Here are some of the projects that are available for donations with the estimated cost of replacement/renovation in no particular order:

  • Press Box with speaker system for Football/Track -
  • Softball Field Renovation - $10,000
  • New Soccer Goals - $3,800

Capturing Memories

If you have been taking or will be taking pictures of our Eagles in Action, a Flickr website has been created for you to share out your memories. These pictures will be collected and used to create a slideshow for the Spring Athletic Awards Ceremony. Please feel free to share these using the following link.

Post Here

As always, we thank you for your support of Eastwood Athletics.

Facilities Rental Information

We have many requests for our facilities, especially this time of the year.

If you are interested in pursuing gym space at Eastwood, please indicate the specific days and times you are interested or available. If there are any conflicts with what we currently have scheduled, we obviously would not be able to accommodate. If the space is available, you will need to go the following link and complete the Facilities Rental Application (http://www.msdwt.k12.in.us/facility-rental-information/) . If approved there will be cost for utilities and custodial services. Submit the application through the district office and they will contact Mr. Tutin regarding official dates and times for final approval.

Spectator Expectations

Working together we can show all what Eastwood has to offer.

Spectator Expectations:

  • Middle school athletics are learning experiences for students, and sometimes mistakes are made. Praise student athletes in their attempt to improve themselves as students, athletes, and individuals.
  • A ticket is a privilege to observe the contest, not a license to verbally assault others.
  • Learn the rules of the game. Understanding the sport more will allow you to enjoy the sport more
  • Show respect for the opposing players, coaches, spectators, and support groups.
  • Respect the integrity and judgment of the game officials.
  • Recognize and show appreciation for an outstanding play by either team.
  • Use only those cheers that support and uplift the teams involved.
  • Students must ride the late bus home or arrange for rides to pick them up promptly after the conclusion of the event. Student's whose rides are significantly late may be restricted from attending future athletic events.
  • All spectators must be properly attired and must wear shirts at all times.
  • Face painting is acceptable. Spectators must be recognizable.
  • Noisemakers that disrupt the game or performance are not acceptable.
  • Signs and banners are permitted so long as they stay within the realm of good sportsmanship.

Decisions regarding the above guidelines will be made at the discretion of the Eastwood staff.
