FROM SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
Happy New Year
Let us begin by wishing you a Happy New Year filled with many successes and continued progress! At Clemens Crossing Elementary School, we place great value in seeing our students showing continued suCESSs and academic progress as they move through their academic journey this year. Each year, as we ring in the New Year, we see this as the ideal opportunity to check in with students and families to ensure that our students are on-track, prepared and ready to go for the second half of the year. What we have observed, as we approach the midpoint of the school year, is that students are academically strong and that our instructional and support team remains energized. After a well-deserved winter break, we welcomed back students online and families to begin our work for the second half of the year to ensure that learning continues.
The year ahead is full of great promise and opportunities for students and the community. We want to thank you for your continued support and wish you a successful 2021!
Thank you!
We would like to personally thank all of the families and students that so generously and thoughtfully gave us holiday gifts and provided gifts to staff. We want to be sure to let our school community know how grateful we are personally. You definitely made our busy days and holiday a bit brighter with your gifts, and we are most appreciative!
It's been nearly three weeks since our last Cougar Comments. While the news is a little light at this time, we do anticipate information to pick-up soon.
Mr. Cosentino

What is MAP?
The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments are computer adaptive achievement assessments in Reading and Math. As a student responds to questions, the test responds to the student by adjusting the difficulty of the questions presented, up or down, to the student. MAP assessment items align to objectives in the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards. This assessment is designed to measure student growth in Math and Reading, both during the school year and across multiple school years. The assessment allows teachers to see instructional strengths and needs for each student.
At the conclusion of the assessment, each student receives a score that aligns to an instructional level. MAP, in conjunction with other measures throughout the school year, helps teachers differentiate instruction within their classrooms. Home reports will be sent at the end of the testing window. A reminder will be shared with families for when these reports are being sent home.
