Every Day Matters

Stanton Elementary Newsletter Volume 2

Notes from Mrs. Miller

We are three weeks in to school and students are moving and grooving! We appreciate each of you helping us make things run smoothly in our drop off and pick up lines. I hope that you have made connections with your child(ren)'s teacher and know how to reach them.

  • We are excited to have our student leadership team in place. These students are helping us sell water, recognize birthdays on campus and working on public speaking through presenting the announcements.
  • We are encouraging all our students to wash hands with soap and water and use hand sanitizer as often as possible to help control our illnesses. I appreciate all that you are doing at home to help us lessen the spread of all illnesses - COVID, flu, strep, stomach bugs, etc.

September Lunch Menus - due to COVID restrictions, parents may drop off lunches, but parents will not be allowed to eat with their child. If you are dropping off a lunch, make sure they know to come pick it up!

Counselor's Corner by Mrs. Shafer

I am excited to start my 4th year with Stanton Elementary! By now, I've introduced myself to all classes and have explained my role of counselor as being here to help all students to be "happy, healthy & safe." It is important to me that all students (and their parents) know that my role is not as a disciplinary but as a helper, listener & student advocate. Please let me know how I can help support you or your student this school year.

⭐Character Trait: September- RESPECT

During my monthly Character Lessons, we will focus on our Character Trait of the month. I encourage you to ask your student about our Character Trait of the Month. Find ways to reinforce these concepts at home.

📌Helpful Tip:

Before & after school can be a hectic time. Research shows that children do best with consistent routines. I suggest talking with your student about morning & afternoon routines and find a plan that works for you. Strive to complete tasks in the same order each day. These should be simple jobs they can learn to handle independently. Consider writing out your routine & posting on the refrigerator. Reward your student when they succeed. These rewards can be simple-- getting to pick the evening show or board game, extra time at the park, extra/special dessert on Friday, etc. Whatever motives them.
