Principal's Corner
The Week Ending 10/18/19
Dear OSES Technology Campus Families,
The 3rd annual Fall Festival is November 2nd. The fall festival is a day full of games, food, activities, and more. Please save the date. Donations can be left at the front desk in either building or with your students teacher.
Each grade will get their choice of two baskets to send in items for. The class with more donations will win a doughnut party! You may bring your items starting in August 2019.
Please email OSS.PVO@orlandoscience.org for more information. Please see below for basket information.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a superhero? The Superhero Science Night event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 on October 24th. This event will give you the opportunity to explore the science behind superheroes. Each room will have hands on experiments, scientific demonstrations, or engineering projects based on superhero science. The event will cost $5 in advance, or $10 at the door.
Next Tuesday, October 22nd is our school wide “Pink Out Day” in support of National Cancer Awareness. Students may wear any clothing or accessory that is pink. Be creative. Please note this is not a dress down day and non-uniform items that are not pink, cannot be worn.
Sincerely,
Michael Singleton
The Technology Campus is incredibly thankful for all of our faithful readers, and for that we would like to reward our families. Moving forward we will have a NEWSLETTER QUIZ located under the Principal's corner.
Dress down passes will be rewarded to the students who receive a 100% on the quiz for that week!
We hope that you have fun, and enjoy reading this week's edition! Entries are due the morning of Monday, October 25th.

Fall Festival Adult Volunteers Needed!
- We need YOUR help! The OSS PVO is asking the OSS parents to sign up to volunteer and help at the Fall Festival on Friday, November 1st and Saturday AND/OR November 2nd. On Friday we need help during the day with receiving bake sale items at morning drop off, festival prep and starting at 6:00 pm with building one set up. On Saturday there will be donuts and coffee at 7am and you will receive a volunteer lunch voucher when you check in for your shift. Saturday has two shifts available plus early morning set up. If you are working the 2nd shift, come early to eat before your shift starts, the volunteer lunch room will close at 2:00pm. There is a ½- hour overlap to make sure that the post is not left vacant if the second shift is running late. We would appreciate any additional help for early set up at 7:00 am.
- Elementary OSS Parents, we also need coverage for the inflatables and have 4 (1.5 hour) shifts for each grade level. Please consider helping supervising one of those shifts so we can keep the inflatables open all day. These shifts have been added to the Elementary School Adult Volunteer sign up page.
- Also please consider donating to our Bake Sale. We are accepting home baked or store bought desserts to compliment our lunch menu. OCPS rules are listed on the sign up page and non perishable donations can be dropped off the Friday morning before.
- Treasure Chest donation boxes are at the front desk of your building. These are to collect unwanted giveaways and trinkets you have around the house for prizes for our free games. The children play select games for Free and collect tickets to redeem at the Treasure Chest tent. This is our budget relieving gift for the parents.
All the three sign ups can be found on the same Sign Up page. Click on the tab at the top of the page that corresponds with your campus and please sign up for multiple times. The PVO appreciates your support.

Mrs. Gajus’ math classes have been hard at work in Unit 2. Pre-Algebra classes have been working with solving linear equations that have multiple parts. They are learning about the different types of solutions they can get when they solve equations of various difficulty. Pre-Algebra will also begin working with systems of equations in the coming weeks. 7th grade classes are working with properties of rational numbers. They have been working to build their fluency in performing operations with positive and negative numbers. 7th grade will be moving to performing operations with all types of rational numbers and learning strategies for solving word problems.
