Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences

Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences -- October 19th & 20th

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held virtually using Google Meet. If you have not scheduled a meeting with your child's teacher as of yet, please call your child's teacher or call the school at 414-902-7700.

Unity Day -- Anti-Bully Event TODAY

Today our students celebrated Unity Day to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Curtin students, staff and families sent a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.

Thank you to all students, staff and families who joined in our Unity Day walk, skits and kindness awards.

4th & 5th Grade Soccer

Our soccer teams have been enjoying their time playing soccer. Consider attending a soccer game to cheer our students on.

Make-Up Picture Day

If your child was absent on picture day, that is not a problem.

Make-up Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, November 11th.

Emergency Contact Cards

On Tuesday, October 20th, the school sent home another set of Emergency Contact cards with students who have not turned in their cards. Please take a moment to review and return to the school.

These are very important for cases of emergency. Thank you kindly.

Digital Safety

In today's day in age, technology plays a big role in the lives of youth. In an effort to help parents learn about internet safety, social media accounts and more, Curtin will share articles to help parents be informed.

As you may already know, it is important that parent monitor their children's technology. Technology include Chromebooks, cells phones, tablets, etc. Below are a couple of articles.

MPS offers $100 incentive for students who vaccinate against COVID-19

To reduce the spread of COVID-19 and promote the health and safety of MPS students, staff, and families, Milwaukee Public schools is offering a $100 incentive for each student who becomes fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 1, 2021.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be 12 years of age or older
  • Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 1, 2021
  • Complete the online application by November 15, 2021
  • Attend any MPS school, including any MPS charter school or partnership school
  • Note that children ages 12 to 17 are ONLY eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, which requires two doses at least 21 days apart.

How do families apply for the incentive? To apply for the student incentive, a family member can access the online application at

You will need your student’s MPS login information, which is the Student ID (7-digit number) and password. More information can be found in the application.

The application is due by 11:59 P.M. on November 15, 2021. The application can be filled out by smartphone.

What does the application include?

  • Verify that the student’s contact information is correct. If contact information is not correct, please complete the application, then contact your child’s school to update your information before November 15.
  • Give consent to MPS to verify your child’s COVID-19 vaccination status through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR).
  • Give consent to MPS to share your contact information with a third-party partner organization to issue the incentive.

Guidelines for Health and Safety

To ensure the health and safety of all, MPS will continue to follow current CDC and Milwaukee Health Department guidelines.

  • Masks required by staff and students indoors except while eating or drinking

  • Masks not required outdoors

  • Masks required on buses

  • Plexi barriers on student desks when facing one another

  • A distance of 3 feet will be maintained in all school settings to the greatest extent possible

  • School Visitors- visitors with a scheduled visit are welcomed (masks required)

  • Water fountains/bubblers will be used as water bottle filling stations. Send your child with a water bottle daily.

Student Absence due to Quarantine or Bus Issues

In order to support our Curtin students when absent due to quarantine or bus issues, students may access assignments on google classroom or Seesaw.

If your child is absent due to quarantine or bus issues, AND, completes their assignments found on google classroom/Seesaw, they WILL be marked PRESENT.

Students also have the opportunity to receive virtual academic support. Ms. Bruno will be available on google meet.

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00-10:30 a.m. AND 1:30-2:00 p.m.

What should I do if my child is sick?

If your child is sick, please keep your child and his/her siblings who live in the home at home.

Please call the school office at 414-902-7700 and share the following:

-Name of your child who is ill

-Symptoms your child is experiencing

-Date that your child began feeling their symptoms

Optional COVID-19 School Based Testing

MPS is now offering COVID-19 School Based Testing for students and staff with COVID symptoms. Testing will help reduce community spread of COVID-19 and ensure that our schools are safe for learning and working. Please consider completing this consent for testing. Students and staff who complete this form and display symptoms of COVID, may be able to be tested at Curtin.

Parent(s)/guardian(s) are expected to notify the school by phone/letter of a student’s absence. Personal illness is a legally excused absence. The building principal may request a medical statement from a physician or other health care provider when student(s) have a history of excessive absences. If your child(ren) is going to be absent, please be sure to call 902-7700. We have a 24 hour automated service.

Please be aware that vacations, going out of town, etc. are only excused if it is in a written notification prior to the absences.

MPS Community Conversations Sessions

MPS will be hosting a quarterly virtual community conversation on district and school climate.

Our next session is on Wednesday October 27, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. We will spend time in breakout rooms to hold a discussion with participants on recommendations towards addressing school and district climate. The community conversations will all be virtually held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on the following dates.

8th Graders


Parent Portal is a system used by MPS to give parents and guardians access to student information such as busing, immunization records, grades, etc. This system is also used for early admission for high school!

On Wednesday, September 23rd, 2021, our school counselor, Ms. Nisleit, held a virtal information session about High School Early Enrollment for our 8th grade families.
