Thank you to our Gardening Club students for making our school look so beautiful! This club is lead by Ms. Hanken, Ms. Smith and Special Visitor (Ms. Peat). Thank You!
If you will have a kindergarten student next year, please sign them up for our Rising Kindergarten Academy. This will give them a great start to the upcoming school year!
Nominations for Local School Council are being accepted beginning April 29th.
The Local School Council brings parents, teachers and school leaders together to support and improve education. Gwinnett County Public Schools and Fort Daniel Elementary School have always relied on these important groups. Our bylaws allow for at least five (not to exceed ten) parent representative on this important advisory council. We currently have an opening for a Parent (Business) Representative. If you know of a FDES businessperson, please nominate them or they may self-nominate.
Nominations for School Council will be open from April 29th – May 13, 2022. All nomination applications must be received via the link below no later than May 13, 2022 at 1:00pm.
The election of School Council members will be held Friday, May 13th – 20th via a Local School Council Election link. The link will be posted in our school’s Fort Report newsletter. Please be sure to visit our web page or Fort Report to cast your vote for the representative for School Council.
The following are a few of the commitments for Local School Council members:
- Serve for two years (unless the parent no longer meets qualifications).
- Attend quarterly meetings during the school year. Times and dates will be announced for the 2022-2023 school year.
- Demonstrate a cooperative spirit in working with all members of the School Council.
- Please carefully consider candidates for this position on our School Council. We look forward to continuing the great tradition of working together as a team to support student learning.

News from the Fort Daniel Clinic….
If your child has any unused medication in the clinic, please let me know how you would like to handle the return of the medication.
1. If your student will be returning to Fort Daniel and you would like me to keep any unexpired medication until the start of our 2022 / 2023 school year, it can be secured in our locked cabinet. When school begins in the fall, I will have you complete a new medication request form for next year.
2. If you would like to pick up your medication, please let me know via email by Monday, May 23, 2022.
Thank you for allowing me to care for your student during the past year. Our Fort Daniel students are the best and they finished the year strong. I hope you all have a happy and safe summer, and I will look forward to seeing our returning students in the fall. To our fabulous fifth graders who will be moving on to middle school, I will miss you, and I know that you will have a great year in 2022 / 2023. ~Cindy Flowers
