HFRCS Newsletter SY 2022-2023

September 27, 2022 - Vol.2 Issue 5

From the Principal's Office

Dear Parents and Guardians,

You know the school year is in full swing when we have Picture Day! Today our students had their pictures taken and they looked very fine in their school uniforms! Pictures typically come back to school by Thanksgiving and a retake date is scheduled for December 2.

The Pot of Gold Challenge, sponsored by St. Frances Cabrini Parish, begins on Monday, October 3. Information on the challenge is sent home this week. Please read the Challenge information and consider participating in Pot of Gold as it is an excellent way to offset your tuition payment.

Our morning carline seems to be making progress! The best way to ensure an expedited and safe carline is: make sure your child is ready with all belongings, unfasten/unbuckle car seats and seatbelts while waiting, don’t get out of your car to assist your child, have the child available on the passenger side of your vehicle. Thank you for your cooperation with our morning drop off procedures.

On Thursday, September 8, our school was recognized as a School of Distinguished Instruction and our award was received by Father Weber at an awards ceremony at St. Pius X Church in Broomall. Right now, you can view the award in our display case as you enter the school. What does it mean that we are a School of Distinguished Instruction? Our school was recognized in the area of growth, which means that by comparing the Normal Curve Equivalent score from this year’s Terra Nova testing to the Normal Curve Equivalent in the 2021 score, our students gave evidence of expected or greater-than-expected growth. Our school was found to have exceeded 90% or above in all content areas with a rate of potential between 76 and 90%. I congratulate all our students and teachers for this accomplishment and encourage everyone always to do their very best!

Just as a reminder, when students leave school, they should be bringing home with them all of the materials they need to prepare for the next school day, either for homework or study. Returning to school and requesting to re-enter the classroom after a teacher has left for the day is not an option. Teachers at all grade levels offer strategies for students to organize and be responsible for their schoolwork. We need to provide opportunities for students to learn these very important study skills while they are in grade school, so that they are prepared to be excellent students in high school. We appreciate your support in this regard.

As summer turns to fall and September to October, we can be truly grateful for a very blessed start of the school year. Let us praise and thank God for the great work He has begun in us this school year!

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Mrs. Haggerty
