William Tell Elementary
Parent Newsletter December, 2020/January, 2021
It is hard to find anyone in the community who hasn't been impacted in some way by COVID-19 quarantines--including our corporation staff. We wanted to show the picture below of how our corporation pitches in during these times. In this case, it is to help prepare and deliver food to classrooms. Pictured is a combination of central office staff, WTE cafeteria staff, and TCJSHS cafeteria staff delivering lunches to our students. At the same time, these staff members were preparing "to go" boxes for pick-up for the virtual TCJSHS students. I also need to mention that this is all after serving hundreds of breakfasts starting at 7:30 a.m.
Additionally, TCJSHS program assistants are at WTE these two weeks while TCJSHS students are virtual. The assistants are filling much-needed roles working with students in all grade levels. They join WTE program assistants as support staff for our students in need.
We are so thankful to have such a strong support team within the Tell City-Troy Township Schools. Most teachers at WTE are now streaming to their homeroom virtual students while teaching their in-person students. Your support of them while they implement these new teaching strategies has meant the world to our teachers.
Together, we are making a difference!
Sincerely,
Laura Noble

Spell Bowl Team Finishes 3rd in State!
The William Tell Elementary Spell Bowl team finished 3rd in the state out of 49 teams in the "larger school" Blue Division! The school hosted a Spell Bowl competition Monday evening to resemble the usual regional Spell Bowl that would have been held with multiple teams.
The score of 75 out of 80 and the 3rd place finish is the highest finish since beginning the competition 25 years ago. We had 5 perfect scores: Brady Stallings, Sena Hazumi, Jaxston Weatherholt, Hadley Hayko, and Camren Martin, along with 2 near perfect scores: Beau Goffinet and Xavier Scioldo.
Team Members left to right, front row: Lucas Beier, Hadley Hayko, Collins Hartz, Emmalyn Hayko, Camren Martin, Xavier Scioldo. Back row: Levi Edwards, Wyatt Strahl, Brady Stallings, Sena Hazumi, Jaxston Weatherholt, Ty Chestnut, Ryleigh Boyd, Coach Benningfield. Zoom Bottom Screen: Sawyer Parke. Zoom Top Screen: Beau Goffinet.
William Tell Elementary Students Recognized for Practicing Lifeskills
With social distancing being a top priority this year, we have had to alter "Ride With Pride" until further notice. Now, a K-2 student and a 3-6 student will get to enjoy a one-on-one lunch with SRO Flamion for practicing at least one of our monthly lifeskills. The 3-6 October winner was Hank Harding.
Hank is a 5th grader in Mrs. Kreilein's room and was nominated by his teacher for using the lifeskill of Initiative. Mrs. Kreilein said, "Hank is always showing initiative when doing his work. He begins right away and works very hard. He is also very helpful to other students. He offers to help without having to be asked. Great job Hank!"
