## Jump Rope for Heart

You child recently brought home information about how he/she can participate in our school's Jump Rope for Heart campaign. This annual event supports the American Heart Association, and reminds our children that "it takes heart to be a hero"!

## Yearbook Sales

Yearbooks are on sale now through March 16th and can only be purchased online. Directions on how to purchase your child's yearbook is on the flyer that went home with your child.

## This Week's Learning Topics

I can use multiple sources of information to write and speak on the Founding Fathers.

• R.I.5.7 Draw on information from multiple print or digital sources, demonstrating the ability to locate an answer to a question quickly or to solve a problem efficiently.

• 5.H.2.1 Summarize the contribution of the “Founding Fathers” to the development of our country.

• R.I.5.6 Analyze multiple accounts of the same event or topic, noting important similarities and differences in the point of view they represent.

• R.I.5.9 Integrate information from several texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject knowledgeably.

## Math

I can add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators and multiply fractions by fractions and whole numbers.

• 5.NF.1 Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators
• 5.NF.4 Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.

## Science

I can understand and explain the differences in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
