Follow these steps to a successful graduation from WGHS:
1. Fulfill all senior obligations.
Class Work
Regular class work continues in all classes for the members of the Class of 2024 through 10:13 a.m. on Friday, May 10. The last weeks of the school term are crucial for seniors. Each senior must be certain that all required work such as class assignments, special reports, projects, and tests are turned in/completed by Friday, May 10. Senior exams will begin on May 7.
Financial Obligations
All financial obligations must be paid by May 10. This includes the return of all textbooks, library books, classroom fees, sports uniforms/activity fees, and equipment. A diploma will not be issued until all financial obligations are met.
NO DIPLOMA WILL BE ISSUED IF ALL OF YOUR OBLIGATIONS ARE NOT MET!
2. Pay for the cap and gown.*
The payment for cap and gown is $50.00 (non-refundable), and you can pay online at webster.revtrak.net. Remember, all students will keep their cap and gown. The deadline to order is January 16, 2024. Please contact adams.teresa@wgmail.org with any questions.
*Cap/Gowns are released at the last station during Senior Check-out on May 10.
3. Order a yearbook, Senior Ad, and upload baby photos.
Senior Quotes MUST be submitted by the student and the student MUST use their school email address.

Senior ADS may be placed until October 27th through the Herff Jones site at https://www.yearbookordercenter.com/general/displayLanding?portal=true.
4. Order your class rings/graduation announcements/memorabilia.
Visit www.herffjones.com to order!
5. Order Graduation Photos (captured as they walk across the stage).
We will continue to update this newsletter as the year progresses. Shortly before May, we will send out information on how to order graduation photos.
6. Complete the FAFSA starting in December.
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form allows you to be considered for federal student aid. In addition, states and colleges use FAFSA information to award their own grants, scholarships, and loans. But, since aid is limited, you have to meet the deadlines!
The 2024–25 FAFSA® form will be available in December 2023, not Oct. 1.
Visit www.studentaid.gov for more details.
7. Mark these important dates on your calendar.
Senior activities are coordinated through the Activities Office. Please call Kim Edwards at 314.918.4176 if you have any questions or concerns. Also, please note that all dates are subject to change.

8. Follow this college/career planning checklist.
September-December
- Begin completing applications for admission (most students apply to 3-7 schools).
- Ask teachers and your counselor for a letter of recommendation, if applicable.
- Request your transcripts through Naviance. Don’t forget to request your official test scores from ACT or SAT.
- Keep a spreadsheet or calendar to organize your applications and due dates.
- Submit the FAFSA as quickly as possible (opens December) in order to be eligible for the most financial aid.
- December—Apply for local scholarships (Counseling Office will send more information).
January
- Continue to work hard on your studies. Your high school courses continue to count throughout your senior year.
- Request a mid-year report from your counselor, if applicable.
- Submit the FAFSA online if you have not already done so.
February-March
- Local scholarship deadlines (February)
- Continue to monitor your applications to be sure that all materials are sent and received on time.
- Watch for financial aid awards from each college. Carefully assess each with regard to how much of your need the award will cover. Inquire about other financing plans if a college does not meet your total need.
May
- Decide where you want to go. May 1 is National College Decision Day.
- Take Advanced Placement (AP) examinations if appropriate (May 6-17). Many colleges offer advanced standing based on AP exam results.
9. All seniors must attend Senior Check-out on May 10.
All students, regardless of enrollment status, are expected to attend Senior Check-out at WGHS on May 10 from 10:20 - 3:25 p.m. Senior Check-out is the final step for all seniors to fulfill their academic and financial obligations, obtain final approval from high school administration, and pick up their cap/gown.
We will send more detailed communication to all seniors and their families in April.
