A Peek at Next Week
Reading - Readers will work on sequencing this week, as well as cause and effect. Students will sequence events in books we read and work together to determine why an event happened, along with the effect of an important event. Being proficient in these skills will help with story mapping and determining plot structure.
Writing - Writers will develop a story outside of their notebook and work through the publishing process. They will produce a piece that is spread out over several pages, accompanied by an illustration on each page. It will be considered a picture book.
Math - We finish fractions this week by comparing them, those with like and unlike numerators, and those with like and unlike denominators. We will spend several days focusing on fractions through concentrated problem solving. We problem solve EVERY DAY, but I will have students work together to think through, discuss, and complete many problem solving situations this week.
Science - Gravity and magnetism
Social Studies - Physical features of communities
REPORT CARDS will go home on Friday, October 23rd!
West Bay Common School
Our fall field trip is scheduled for Thursday, October 22nd. We will spend the day visiting a one room schoolhouse and learning all about how a child in the 1860s spent their school day. Please send your child with a lunch. I sent home lunch notes on Thursday, to make sure I know how many lunches to order from the cafeteria. Please return that note with your child if you haven't already done so.
No parent chaperones will be taken on this field trip. There is not enough space and it is a teacher led experience. In the spring, we will go on a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, and parent chaperones are invited to attend.
Fundraiser Pick-Up, Tuesday, October 20th
