Kindergarten will be having outdoor lessons!!
My name is Jenna Rykse and I serve as the Field School Outreach Coordinator. I am excited to share that for the months of March and April I have the opportunity to visit your student's classroom to teach weekly outdoor education lessons. We will be heading outside to learn, play, observe, and grow! During this time, if you notice your child being particularly engaged in their outdoor learning experiences, you may want to consider Field School for 1st grade. Field School applications will be posted to nvps.net April 17th.
Please feel free to email me with any questions at jrykse@nvps.net.
Family Campfire has been rescheduled!
Book Bingo is back!

Attendance
Student Absences
Just a reminder if your student is absent please email westoffice@nvps.net or call 616.361.3470 the day of the absence.
Student Tardy
Students are marked tardy if they arrive to class after the 8:15 bell. Please make sure to sign them in on the Chromebook located in our lobby if you drop off students after this time.
*If your student is attending an appointment of any kind please provide us with a doctor's note.
We are now at the point where truancy/attendance letters have begun being sent out and want to make sure we are working together to have your student in school as often as possible. Please know that this reporting it mandatory by the state of Michigan and is something we have to do.

Nurse's Corner
- Please remember that you cannot send medicine to school with a student, regardless of it is OTC or prescription. A Northview permission form for medication at school must be filled out before office staff can give it to the student.
- A fever is a temperature greater than 100.4F (according to the CDC). Do not send your child to school for 24 hours after the fever has broken and without the use of fever-reducing medication. A low grade fever is 99.0 - 100.3F. If your child is not feeling well enough to attend school, please keep them home.
- We have noticed an increase of students with chapped lips this winter. You can send chapstick in a backpack or use vaseline at home to help with this.
- Although lice is not a communicable disease, it can be a nuisance. As a parent, it is your responsibility to check and remove lice and nits from your child's hair. Please click here for the KCHD fact sheet.
- For the younger children, it is a great idea to keep an extra pair of underwear and pants in a ziploc bag in the bottom of their backpack (accidents happen).
- Continue to practice good hand and cough hygiene with your children.
