ISAACS EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL
2023-2024
Dear Isaacs Families,
Happy New Year to you! We hope you had a wonderful winter break. We are excited to get back to our routines and to get back to building our foundation of learning. Some students might feel sad coming back to school since they were able to be home for an extended period. Please know that this is very typical and we know that once they walk back through our doors, their smiles and happiness to be here will return.
January is a great time to get refreshed on school routines and to begin new ones as well. Our 4 year old classes will have the 2nd wave of the CIRCLE testing this month from January 22- February 5.
We will also be hosting our annual Multicultural Night Event on Thursday, February 1st from 5:00-6:00pm. This event brings all of our families and cultures together for one night and we can't wait to be a part of it with you. All the details are below.
Sincerely,
Jane Oestreich
Principal

MULTICULTURAL NIGHT
Every year, Isaacs hosts a Multicultural Night. This year’s event will be Thursday, February 1st from 5:00-6:00pm. Our families are encouraged to wear clothing from their native country. Each student will get their very own passport to travel throughout the school and do different activities in each neighborhood/country.
As part of our event this year, we would like to do a recipe exchange. In order to do this, we need your help. If you would like to share a recipe from your country to share with other Isaacs families, please submit the following in an email to Amy Smith–ESL Coach and Chair of the Multicultural Night committee.
Please send the following to amy.p.smith@pisd.edu

After all recipes have been submitted, there will be a recipe station at the event where families use their phones/QR codes to obtain the recipe information.
Before the event, we will be sending home pandas for your child and you to decorate and return to school to be displayed. The students and staff always love to see all the pandas.
Thank you for sharing your culture with us and we cannot wait to see you there!

LIBRARY CORNER
Welcome to the second semester! Please continue to help your child remember to find and return their library book on their library day so they can choose a new book to share with you. It is great fun for me to see what book your child picks each week. It gives me an idea of what they are interested in or want to know more about. I hope you are just as excited as your child is when they bring home their new library book for the week to share with you. If you know your child has some specific interests, you are welcome to stick a note with a specific request in their library bag and I will do my best to find a book that satisfies that interest.
Establishing a reading routine is very important. Normally, the easiest time to have a specific reading time is right before your child goes to sleep. I have my own routine that includes reading for a bit before I go to sleep. This is a great way for me to relax and get ready to sleep. So I know reading with your child before they go to sleep would help signal to your child that it is time to relax and then go to sleep. It is also great for you to have that special quiet time with your child!
Sincerely,
Susan Vohtz
