Principal Message: Welcome Back TJ Families
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. I think it is safe to say that the 2020-21 school year will be unlike any other school year. Whether your child will be coming to TJ for in-person learning or their learning will be virtual, I want every TJ student and family to feel connected to our school.
Our motto this year is: Together We Have the Power To Do This. WE are TJ STRONG
The TJ community is very special and I am going to continue working on maintaining that connection between school and home. In this era of social distancing and quarantines, it is even more important that we feel connected to one another. My goal is to have ALL families look at TJ as their second home and I am still hopeful before the school year ends; that we will all be back together "under one roof".
This summer we have been busy developing a plan that provides the best possible education in a safe environment. I have communicated many of the different factors we are taking into consideration as part of our planning and we will continue to evaluate our programs and school day in order to make adjustments as needed.
As a reminder, the start of the school year has changed and will follow this modified schedule:
Tuesday, Aug. 18: Teacher Virtual Learning Plan Day
Wednesday, Aug. 19: REVISED First Day of Schoo
Wednesday, Aug. 19-Friday, Sept. 4: Virtual Instruction Continues for all D15 Students
In person instruction will then begin based on your child’s grade level or program.
Here is the Tentative Calendar Dates for Re-Entry to In-Person Instruction:
Monday, Sept. 7: Labor Day holiday (District closed, no student attendance)
Tuesday, Sept. 8: Kindergarten
Monday, Sept. 14: Special Education Self-Contained Programs (all students in LEAP and SEAL classes)
Monday, Sept. 21: Grades 1-2
Monday, Sept. 28: Grades 3 and 4
Monday, Oct. 5: Grades 5 and 6 and ECDEC class.

Meet the Teacher and Parent Orientation information
Virtual Parent Orientation will take place on August 26th. Even though this will not be an in-person event, it will still be live. Your child's teacher will be sending out specific information about the orientation closer to the date. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to virtually meet their child’s teacher(s) and to learn about the grade level curriculum and teacher expectations.
In order to accommodate families with more than one child, we have created a schedule so parents can join different virtual classrooms. The schedule is as follows:
6:00-6:30 p.m.
Grades K through 2
Special area teachers—Music, PE, and Art
Reading Specialist, LD, and Bilingual Resource
6:35-7:05 p.m.
Grades 3 and 4
7:10-7:40 p.m.
Grades 5 and 6
We cannot record these meetings. If you are unable to join the virtual meeting, during this time slot, your teacher will follow up with you.
TJ Chromebook and Supply Pick Up
Chromebooks and school materials will be distributed on Monday, August 17th, and Tuesday, August 18th. You should have received an email and text with information about the process for pick up on these days.
Supply pick up directions-Spanish
