Our Students...
So my analytical mind says..., what a powerful quote when it leads with, "God" has never made a person he did not love? As this word, God is perceived as a large and massive inanity that is greater than man.
First, I am not asking for love...I am in search of what we can develop as a LIKE. So my message to YOU as teachers and staff of McAdenville Elementary School is. . .
What is it that we can find that we CAN LIKE in each of our peers, students, parents of students, the school community members and leaders. I've sat back for a year and a few months and I can say I have heard what we DON'T LIKE about the above mentioned including myself. I urge us today and this day forward to teach, communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with that one characteristic or trait that YOU DO LIKE in each of our peers, students, parents of students, the school community members in mind. I can bet that if you do; there will be more, that you can discover that you will like and be able to tolerate in others.
From my perspective, I am witnessing a resistance so strong that we are not doing what is best for our students. As the leader of your school, I will not stand by and allow dislike for programs, plans, ideas, CHANGE, TRUTH or anything else to prevent our students from the opportunities that they deserve! MES stand up and let's do our professional best to help our students to receive the best education. Growth and proficiency will happen naturally when we are giving 100%. I know someone is reading this right now and saying, Ms. Rice, I give my !00% every day. It's either I'm speaking to you so deeply you can't see that that statement is resistance also. What I hear is ... I am doing all I am going to. What is she talking about?
I'd rather you have said, Okay, let me see how I can build myself up to better serve my students or implement instructional practices in my classroom?
I will conclude my open letter to you in hopes that I am not speaking to you specifically, but what I am saying resembles an idea of a direction you'd like to see our school go so that we can be on the same team this year. TEAM MES ALL THE WAY!

Instructional Focus
Instructional Focus/Concentration:
Building The Foundation Professional Development. The sessions will be offered throughout the school year.
Instructional Focus/Concentration:
Engagement and Worksheets
How often are you using worksheets for instruction and homework each day? How can we reduce the number of worksheets used during the school day?
Teacher - Student relationships
How can we change the tone of how we address students? It’s not what you say sometimes it’s how you say it. Model what they expect. The modeling sessions may have to be repeated a number of times, but model the expectations (Behavior and Instruction) with grace and respect for the student.
Agenda and I Can Statements - Daily Expectations
Each classroom should have an agenda listing what will be taught each day.
Each classroom should have I Can statements posted each day and tied to a standard.

Staff,
I am leaving this a second week as we continue to need to work on recess, and our instructional look-fors.
- Please stay with your students on the playground.
- Students proximity is too far away from the teacher while at recess. This is creating unsafe play situations for students.
- This may mean that you give your students a set area of play. Example if your class is on the upper area two or three cannot be allowed to wall the track as they end up too far away for moments of time.
- Duty begins at 7:30 AM in the morning if you are an AM duty person be on time as your absence interferes with the cafe staffs ability to prepare and serve breakfast.
- Be respectful of the others you are working with
- Afternoon Duty staff - Please watch your students
- If you are walking students out for car riders please LEAD (they should follow you)the students and make sure they are in the cars before your turn to go back to the building.
- We now have umbrellas for all of our duty staff. Please do not remove from the school for any other purpose
- Front bus and vans Students need to be reminded to WALK even if you have to take them back to the building to get it right.
- Cafeteria seating is still being worked out but if you have suggestions I am listening.
- Please let me know if you see a solution to making things flow
- Student noise levels must remain low
- Students appear to be really happy
- Great teachers are the key to happy students (I see you building relationships)
- Thank you for doing what you do to make our students and families proud of our school
- Wildcat Pride!
