SME Belief Statement
Every child has the right to receive quality instruction to prepare for college and career success in the 21st century. We will provide real world learning opportunities through technology, collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking. SME staff has the privilege of collaborating with highly motivated, creative and professional colleagues. We will continually evolve and improve upon our own teaching practices to create a rigorous, engaging learning environment.
Agenda
Innovator's Mindset
- Chapter 2 reading time and discussion - definition of Innovation: New and Better At first, innovation seems overwhelming, but when I consider the benefits and take the author’s advice that “This does not mean replacing everything we do, but we must being [sic] willing to look with fresh eyes at what we do and ask, ‘Is there a better way?’” Would I want to be a learner in my own classroom?
- Model grit and resiliency
- Have a growth mindset
- Look within the box to be innovative
- As a teacher, model with our own actions
- A great teacher adjusts to the learner and not the other way around
- Classroom - who is the most tired?? Teachers do not need to be the center of attention
- So happy when you had a doubt (ClassDojo) to try something and then it does work...

Discussion
Leadership Roles/Responsibilities
- Coordinate the ordering and distribution of supplies; including texts and materials.
- Attend monthly Leadership Team Meetings.
- Create the agenda; coordinate and facilitate grade level meetings.
- Assist in developing the master schedule for the efficient operation of the elementary school program.
- Collaborate in developing and assist in facilitating professional learning at staff and grade level meetings. (Benchmark Training for grade levels ?)
- Represent the grade level on the Leadership Team. (Need clarification)
- Assist with the development and updates of any necessary communication between the grade level, students, parents, and community.
- Act as a liaison to the District, site administration, and other grade levels.
- Communicate with the grade level regarding administrative reports, information, and school events.
- Represent the grade level at District-wide curricular meetings (approximately four times per year).
