Trojan Times
By: Principal Mike Dufrene (April 19th)
Hello HHS,
At the high school level, come mid April and May the real struggle sets in for staff and students. As the weather changes it is hard to stay focused and motivated each day, especially with everything we all had to handle this past year. I have noticed a little drop off the past few weeks and we must fight through this and get it going again...find out what makes up "go"! Please let's pull together these final few weeks and give our best each day so we can finish strong. How we end this school year will have a major impact on how we move forward this summer and fall. The biggest difference maker down the stretch is "you" and the "effort" you bring each day!
Reminder, "early" morning breakfast is available Monday through Thursday between 7:00 and 7:45 am in the cafeteria ("Grab-N-Go" style). Plus, we are stilling during "2nd Chance" breakfast each morning. Please take advantage of this opportunity.
5th Block is waiting for you between 3:30 and 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday to give you additional academic support (food and transportation is provided if needed). See Ms. Lease in room 114).
Mr. Meck is offering AP Test Prep in room 404 on the following dates...April 14th, 21st, and 28th between 3:30 and 5:00 pm (food and transportation is provided if needed).

🏀🏀🏀⛹️♀️⛹️ Girl’s Regional Basketball Game ⛹️♀️⛹️🏀🏀🏀
Students: Miss Buckley will be selling tickets for the girls' basketball Regional Championship tomorrow, 4/19 during lunch. You will need to have that ticket to enter the game. Tickets are $5 and the game is this Tuesday, 4/20 at HOME. The game starts at 7 PM and the theme for the student section is camo/country. We would greatly appreciate a full student section cheering our girls on! A win would punch our ticket to the state tournament in Charleston! There are 50 tickets available for students as of right now. Thanks to all!
For any staff member who is interested in coming to the game, please also see Miss Buckley. Adult tickets are $8.
Go Trojans!!

Healthy Expectations from Nurse Dante:
Updates from the Nurse:
I would like to thank our HHS students and staff as we continue to work together to follow the Governor's mask mandate that is still in place for West Virginia. This mandate is in place til May 17th at which time the Governor will announce his plans. He may continue the mandate a while longer allowing more time for us to reach our goal for "herd immunity" or he may release us from this mandate. Some counties in West Virginia have additional policies in place, we do not. We are following the Governor's mandate as most businesses in our county are also.
Masks or face coverings are required when transitioning between classes, going to lunch and when requested by teachers/staff. When students are in their classroom and spaced apart, it is up to the discretion of the teacher to allow longer periods/breaks without the mask. This will vary between classes due to room size and number of students present.
Hampshire High has done very well following this mandate. We want to continue being cautious as we complete these last 6 weeks of school. Many upcoming events and school activities that are being planned depend on our schools staying COVID-free or having very few cases.
Juniors, please remember to make plans to receive your required vaccine for senior year. The required vaccine is the booster dose to the Meningitis vaccine you received prior to 7th grade. The Health Department will be offering this vaccine at school on May 18th. Please see your School Nurse for more information or a permission form.
Thank you!
