Carruth House
Whangarei Boys' High School Term 3 Edition 2 2019
Developing Boys into Fine Men
Where did Term 3 go and major annual rugby fixtures!!!
Once the holidays are over, the time is very short before the seniors leave - and exams begin. The end of year Formal Dinner preparations are well underway and this promises, once again, to be a great night and a fitting way to say farewell to our leavers. This night is always a highlight of the year and this year will be no different.
The applications for hostel positions have been coming in, and we have been doing a lot of interviews for next year, as well as a few for Term 4 this year. If you know of anybody interested in Carruth House for 2020, please tell them to get in touch with me. The L W Nelson Scholarship is now open for applications and all the details can be found in the link. This is a full scholarship for the first three years at Carruth House! Applications close on 31st October. Not bad at all!!!
This half term we have been looking at our school value of Maia and Aroha (Courage and Compassion). To live a life of ordinary courage requires a great deal of compassion and empathy, beginning with ourselves. No one benefits when we aren’t bringing the best of who we are, out into the world.
The annual rugby fixture, North v South is always a great battle - if truth be known, it's actually bigger than the Rugby World Cup final! This year North retained the trophy by 10 points in a very competitive match - perfect preparation for the next big game in our calendar .... the Boarders v Day Boys rugby match. The build-up was immense and nerves were showing. A great game was held on Tuesday afternoon, and we took it out 38-17. A great result!!! Full cooked breakfast coming up!!
