Columbia Geek Culture Gala
A Higher Class of Nerd
Columbia's First Con!
Happening the weekend before the city of Chicago’s C2E2, CG2 is a student-made con on a smaller scale (and with an art school twist). We will have special guests from Chicago’s entertainment community and beyond, utilizing Columbia’s own alumni network. Panels, screenings, games, and an “Artist Alley’ for Columbia’s creators to showcase their work. And of course, we’ll have a cosplay contest - Columbia style.
While the three student organizations in charge bring something unique to the mix, all celebrate discussion, debate, creativity, diversity, and discovery of new art and popular culture. CG2 is a day for us to bring that together, with the help of other interest groups, to make connections, explore our industries, find new fandoms, and geek out.
Above all, we are ready to unite for a unique student-made event for the “higher class of nerd” in all of us.
This event is to raise money for Child's Play: http://www.childsplaycharity.org/
This event is free to all Columbia Students, Faculty, and Alumni. For non-Columbia students there will be a $5 suggested donation.
