Weekly Newsletter
This week, I am so excited and honored to shine the spotlight on our El Camino School Attendance team, Ann Nash and Elizabeth Flores!
These are two of the hardest working women I know! This year, due to multiple changes in our attendance system due to the pandemic, our attendance office has been extremely busy!
Over the last several weeks, we have noticed an increase in the number of students being picked up from school during the school day. Instructional time in class is so important and we need your assistance! Here are a couple of ways you can help us:
- If your child is not feeling well, they should go to the health office. Please do not have them text you to pick them up. The health clerk or school nurse will assess them and will release students from the health office if they need to be picked up.
- If your student is marked absent for one class, we would like students to advocate for themselves by first speaking directly to the teacher about the absence before contacting the attendance office.
- School is released at 3:20 pm every day except for Wednesday and at 2:50 pm on Wednesdays. Please do not pick up your student during the last 20 minutes of school unless absolutely necessary for a doctor's appointment.
When you do have doctor's appointments, please let them know ahead of time by calling the Off-Campus Pass Hotline at 760-901-8002. You can also email the attendance office at attendance.echs@oside.us. For more information about your child's attendance or attendance procedures, you can check out the attendance page on our EC Website by clicking on the ECHS Attendance link.
Thank you Ann and Elizabeth for being AMAZING assets to our Wildcat family!! We appreciate ALL that you do!

- Independent Study Contracts: Parents and guardians, if your student is going to be out of school for more than four days due to quarantine because of close contact status or in isolation due to testing POSITIVE for Covid-19, there is a short-term independent study option in place to support continued learning. Students who need to quarantine will be offered short-term independent study so they can maintain academic readiness. Please ensure that your child completes the work from the Independent Study Contract that is emailed to you and your student. There is a place for parent/guardian signature and your student should ensure all work assigned in the IS contract is completed prior to returning to school.
