Roll Call

Sept. 23rd-27th, 2019

GYTO

We had a great time Getting 'Our' Teach On! Get Your Teach On was Thursday, September 19th. In 4th grade, we had a four-class rotation. Students were able to Shop Til You Drop in Mrs. Plunk's room. Mrs. Mamdani challenged students with an all place value review by creating a Jeopardy to rival Alex Trebek. Mrs. Poorman had Calculation Tic Tac Toe and Mrs. Waesch had an outdoor hula hoop race with Place and Value (there is a difference!), and Comparing Numbers.

Ask your student about that very special day!

21 Day Healthy Snack Challenge - A message from Coach!

HEY CAMPERS!

Regarding the 21 Day Healthy snack Challenge, Ethridge has had the highest participation rate in Texas for the past few years. We were around 90 % participation and that’s good, but 100 % participation would be great. So let’s encourage ALL our student campers to join us in Camp Gympossible as Ethridge strives to leave no one behind in our quest for good health. The 21 Day Healthy Snack Challenge is a great opportunity for all of us to be healthy HAPPY CAMPERS, taking responsibility for our own well-being in a body we help to create with our choices. Our choices make it POSSIBLE!

Sept. 23 @ 12:01 a.m. through Oct. 7th @11:59 p.m. — On-line sign-up at kids-teaching-kids.com Only parents may sign children up using parent email. No one will be allowed to sign up after October 7th. And there's no 8 digit code to have to remember this year. YAY!

Oct. 7th - Oct. 27th — 21 Day Challenge! The challenge isn’t complicated. Feel free to use the recipes in the healthy snack booklet or come up with your own thing. A healthy snack is as simple as choosing a banana instead of a candy bar or a handful of almonds instead of a handful of M&M’s. Give students reminders about making healthy snack choices and how they make life better. Let’s enjoy an all-around healthy month as we pursue Fun Run exercise success alongside our 21 Day Challenge!

Nov. 11th @ 12:01 a.m. through Nov. 18th @ 11:59 p.m. — Parents be on the lookout for an email from MCCH that links to a short survey required to complete the challenge.

MCCH will provide rewards for all students who signed-up for the challenge and completed the post survey. But let’s encourage healthy snacking because great health is the best reward of great choices.

Start with Hello - A message from our Counselor!

This week schools across the country will be recognizing “Start with Hello” week. We will spend a little time each day teaching students about how they can make a difference with their peers, by noticing other students who are frequently alone and reaching out to help. Students are invited to wear green on Tuesday as a reminder to “Start with Hello.”

You can find out more about “Start With Hello” week at https://www.sandyhookpromise.org/startwithhelloweek
