Spring Break Homework + Stay Updated
We were notified that all 4th and 5th grade students are required to take their iPads & chargers home in case we have to switch to online instruction etc. Please keep an eye out during spring break for any updates from the district.
The district continues to monitor the CDC’s list of countries with widespread or ongoing community spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus, via the CDC website here. This is a constantly changing situation, and we encourage you to continue monitoring your email, the LISD website and social media channels for the latest district information.
As many LISD families depart for Spring Break travel, it is important to stay aware of any additional areas that may be added to the list in the near future.
We ask for any students or employees to stay home for 14 days after they return if over Spring Break they plan to travel:
- to China, Iran, Italy, South Korea or Japan, (all currently on CDC Level 2 or 3);
- to any additional countries added to the CDC Level 2 and 3 list; or
- via cruise line
LISD will work with each family or staff member impacted during this extended absence period to resolve any attendance issues. Documentation of travel to an impacted area will be required.
As always, we encourage our families to keep children at home when they are sick or experiencing fever. As a reminder, your child must be fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol or Advil, and not experiencing vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
As we have a clearer picture of how COVID-19 affects our area, LISD may make adjustments to its procedures. The district is evaluating the impact of student absences on exam exemptions and perfect attendance reward programs, among other things.
The safety of our students and staff continues to be our top priority. We will monitor updates from the CDC and the Texas Department of State Health Services for additional information and guidance and will share details with you regarding any updates we may receive. For up to date information from the district, visit LISD.net/coronavirus.
Thank you for your continued support of LISD.
Austin Field Trip
Thank you so much for taking care of the payment and sending in the paperwork required for the field trip. We just have a few students left that need to pay and take care of the paperwork. Your kids are going to have an AMAZING time on this field trip!
Please check your child's binder for some important information that was sent home about our upcoming trip to Austin on April 22nd. The packet includes information regarding payment, permission slips, medical/allergy forms, and general trip information, including snacks and meals. Payment is due in full February 1st. We included a sheet with a QR code that you may scan with your phone, which will take you directly to the link to make the payment if you have not done so already. Chaperones, if you need a link for payment, please let your child's classroom teacher know because chaperone payment is also due by February 1st. We are looking forward to taking this trip with the students, and we know they are looking forward to it, too. We've been discussing it during Social Studies, and they are so excited! It really is a lot of fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please email your child's classroom teacher!!
